What coach would want to come to UT with this team facing the #2,#4,#5 ranked teams on the road and #3 and #10 ranked teams at home next year....who do you honestly think takes this job

also factor in that with this highly emotional fan base after 2 or 3 loses slamming this new coach in all forms of media...i mean..who do you expect to be hired...

keep in mind it already scared Gruden and all the money he was supposedly offered away...

what say you VOL fans..

You're right. Head Coaches are not historically alpha male types. They regularly shy away from challenges and offers of big money and big exposure.

Head Coaches relish safe, low key games...

In all seriousness, this may take the cake for being an example of a lame, defeatist post.

Tennessee IS a great job.

Possibly a competitor who has had success at other universities. Just guessing of course.

Tennessee is also career suicide if you don't succeed. Loose here and you will never see the lights of the SEC again. Take that into consideration just saying. Go Vols:unsure:

actually there are many points that can be argued either way. Kinda like the "Financial Cliff". I wouldn't mind the
same answer for both. Quit putting broken parts on a broken machine, just tear it down and rebuild it the RIGHT way.

With all due respect, this is a lame Thread? I don't think any coach is going to be scared away by a bunch of posters on Volnation!

Not sure what you have to prove this. Any AD that would hire Dooley would be fired immediately

True, but back to my point, most successful coaches are uber-alpha male types who have few doubts about their abilities and chances to succeed.

We will find someone worthwhile, and that person will specifically relish the chance to cement his legacy by taking on the task of rebuilding Tennessee.

You don't become a legend by playing it safe all the time.

exactly....don't some of you think these coaches know this also....I hope TN can get that Huge Hire, but it's gonna be a rough road to hoe....

I'd love to have Penn States coach..look at what he had to go thru...hell of a coach in my opinion.

Alot of **** typed but no one has gave him a name that's all he asked for. Fedora would take the challenge usually not sure he would after only one yr. on the job ( he seems to have more morals than that but who truly knows) , Strong would give it a try and I believe that's who we end up with next week, can't wait to see the bu[[ **** in here after that happens, The guy at N. Ill. Dorean sp? would love the chance and would lose all of them next year so he would be toast on here, but given three years he would win more than his share. There op maybe not the answer you were lookin for but at least i gave you one.

Derek Dooley said he will come back for ten million

I think we should take him up on it!

Gary Patterson, I would not bet against him winning 8 games and shocking one of the three tough road games. Man is a winner and has no fear.

Yeah! But, if you coach here and screw up, you'll get a fantastic buyout......anywhere from 3million to 6million. Dooley is in great shape and will probably never have to do ANYTHING again.....plus he can always hang out his shingle and be the lawyer that he has trained to be. So, why shouldn't the UT job be a plum of a job? The pay is great, facilities are top of the line, you've got the best recruits to choose from in neighboring states, you really can't beat the fan support if you're winning football games.

Because a good coach isnt scared of #2 #4 #5 #10 teams......because he knows Tennessee can and WILL be #1 with a good coach.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it

June Jones might not be a bad idea....

I have been preaching this for a week. Took Hawaii to the Sugar Bowl. He has taken SMU to 3 bowl games. SMU has been dead for twenty years until June arrived. People have laughed at me. But remember Les Miles was 28-21 at Oklahoma State before LSU hired him. Now grant it, Saban didn't leave that program in bad shape. But sometimes good coaches just need facilities, budget, and support that UT provides. He is 59, that is a concern, but has 10 years left. He was a NFL quarterback and coach, has connections to the south, and is a proven recruiter with no allegations in the past against him. And, he digs the fans, he was to Hawaii what Bruce Pearl was to Tennessee. This guy needs a look.
