You must be young lol, go back and checkout scores of games when Ray Mears was the HC, seems like I remember finals being like 20-14 before the shot clock was used.

I do believe Lemonte and Gruden benefit way more from the Hargis story than boosters. Boosters should have no issue with Hart behind closed doors if needed. Hargis's insistence that Gruden wants to be here smells more of them fishing to brake a pricing log jam than us trying to deal with Hart.

I don't believe Bcartervol98's sources were not trolling him. There was way too much collaborative smoke that was everywhere. Hubbs reported that Gruden was not his number 1. I think the money wanted Gruden and had a basic agreement in place with the encouragement of Peyton. I think he went along with the money but it became obvious to Gruden that Hart didn't want him either directly or through his agent. Hart basically sabotaged the deal.

The problem now is if even the original brokers were to try to get back involved with Gruden would he even be willing to work for Hart. If all that were true, it may take running Hart off to get Gruden. I am OK with that by the way.

Yes, that last part was a head shot given Gruden's relationships with people who have been associated with that program. I also don't recal such shots at ND or Miami.

All the while, where in the he!! is Dave Hart's response?

I still believe we get Gruden .All this **** that has happened doesn't fit with the season we had, the money we have and the fact that i still believe he wants to come back to his roots in coaching and his youth. It seems more like a smorgasbord of bull**** everywhere. If it doesn't happen there are alot Fxxxxx up people that haved used us as their toy and they can just all go to fxxxxxx bama

This has been one helluva ride and hopefully there's a little bit of the ride we ain't seen yet.

So I posted a picture of Gruden earlier this afternoon, with a YouTube of Boyz 2 Men - It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday attached. Well, it was playing on my ipad, and I'm 99% sure it blew the speaker on my ipad.

So yes...our program blows, we whiffed on our top coaching choice, and Jon Gruden blew my effing iPad speaker via Boyz 2 freaking Men.

It's been a real banner day.

This is a freaking power struggle. Perhaps Hart does not fully understand that you do not bite the hand that feeds you.

These big $$$$ donors can crush Hart's career on a whim if they really wanted to. Maybe Hart is too arrogant and egotistical to perceive that he is in a losing position.

Perhaps those $$$$ commitments from donors for Dooley's buy-out suddenly disappear.... What would Hart do then???

Screw Hart and the damn Bama train he road in on!!!!

Just got back on the board. May have missed this. If Hart and Gruden give the slightest hint that they have talked prior to some important date (? Last payment) and he then signs with TN after this date. IS THERE ANY WAY HE HAS TO REPAY THEN ENTIRE PAYOUT OR A MAJOR PORTION BACK TO TB? If so, would Hart not have to say JG was not my #1 choice and interview multiple candidates and then go back to Gruden and save the day?

I am still working out how all these contradictions and misinformation add up.

I think this is what happened, just speculating but this is the place for this. Imagine this:

Dooley is failing. A big money guy finds himself in a position to meet Jon. They converse about UT football. Then Dooley is failing worse, booster a calls booster b and talks about the Gruden conversation. They contact him to gauge his interest and then to know what sort of package he needs Gruden calls a few people to see what their salary demands would be. He also speaks of concerns about recruiting and the red tape in the college game. He tells booster a and booster b a ridiculous salary number to not seem like he is closing a door maybe, but high enough he expects a no. They get the money together and start talking "done deal" because of this.

Not at all saying what happened is anything close to this but its possible Gruden got hung up in a Booster fantasy and was forced to say no.

There are tons of scenarios where Hart is not the villain here. Just trying to be reasonable and think what could have happened.

Yeah I feel like I know a lot of you as friends. Strange how a common belief in something can draw people together. Even most of the ones that want to eye poke, they are just as invested as us and they don't know how to direct their anger. A few are really asses and need smacked in the mouth. I will be happy to host any and all of you at my tailgate next year. Many of us had/have good info from people we trust. It was brought to give people hope you would think people would be mature enough to understand that. I will be here until the end. I just know that everyone needs to wait and see what happens. Many like poor ole bcarter have invested emotionally but know one can say it is done until we see the new coach.

We'll be alright without gruden. I still have hope that dave fart can hit a homerun here. Trying not to judge until a man is on the podium. Then you have to wait another couple years before you can truly judge...it's going to be a LONG ride folks.

I have no idea....anything is possible.

In many large business deals the two sides posture and show their poker face as to not give in or show any signs of weakness...not because of ego, but to hold ground to maximize their opportunity...be it financial, power, real estate, shares, whatever.
