How ridiculous is college basketball now...

37-36 final score???

That's worse than most girls high school basketball games

LOL, I know this has probably already been posted but if this entire deal has been brokered, negotiated, and delivered by the "donors" and Gruden turned it down, HOW THE F IS THAT HARTS FAULT?? One might say that Haslam should be fired and Hart may have to save the deal.

Because he was told his role. It remains to be seen whether he has played it or not.

This thing will get real ugly or beautiful. Too many people know too much for him to sweep it under the rug.

Vols have the ball down 1 with 20 seconds left in the game. GO VOLS!

Ugliest game I have ever witnessed. Stokes is over-rated. Great rebounder but thats it. We play good defense but thats all. Gonna be a rough year for the round ball vols as well. JMO

I am confident in saying this whole ordeal is not over money like what is being reported. The people involved are not use to losing or not getting their way and in no way would they allow defeat over a few hundred thousand dollars like is being suggested by some.

I agree Gman. I'm just not over it yet either.

I just saw on the ESPN ticker during the UT/GU game that Gruden has told UT he is not interested, but there was negotiations the went deep into last week.

Nothing makes sense...

Then what the hell is going on Gman? And can it be salvaged?

My friend here who's all Bama has been very informative to me about that whole ordeal. And ill say it again: He explained to me that Mal Moore actually hired Rich Rod. The fan base and boosters went nuts because they wanted Saban. It became a power struggle, the boosters twisted Moores arm until he backed out on Rich Rod. Remember that? Then Saban continued to deny any involvement with Bama. My friend went on to say that the whole Saban concept went dead. Moore NEVER addressed the fans or tried to control the rumors. Nothing. So the idea was dead...and then within days of Sabans last day it quickly arose and the deal was done...

A week or so ago a very convincing caller on the Basilio show told that same story. About how Mal Moore hired Rich Rod and a couple days later RR "had a change of heart" and then soon after Saban was hired. He said a small group of boosters forced Moore to do so. It was very believable the way he told the story on TB's show.

Don't to be too quick there Bcarter. Not to play juggling sources, but the primary places I was receiving information is/are/were uniquely positioned to have to first hand knowledge of what was going on. I still think they believed there was an agreement. They are the ones that relayed to me last night things went off the rails. Until then, as recently as 5 days ago, we were good. And if they thought they "had a deal" it wasn't conjecture but bc Gruden said he was coming. That i have no question about. He Was getting his staff ready. you dont do all of that if you're Listening and smiling. That's all I'll say about it.

Now today I was told directly that Hart WAS/IS part of the problem. Don't know details but there is an issue there. TIFWIW

Good job on your reporting. Glad you were here to help.

there are reputable journalists saying that it is a fact he had contacted assistants about coaching at UT. They had spoken with said coaches as had their employers. To say Gruden had no interest is false in my mind because of this,

Interesting. I didn't follow their message boards, but I remember Bama had become an Old Miss, while Florida and Tennessee were fighting it out as top dog. You can't help but remember how many times Saban denied going there before he took that insane amount of money (for that time)

I believe. I don't know why, but I do. Maybe it's because I choose to, maybe it's because I am nuts, but I have read damn near every single post since Gruden X, and the people really making the most sense are the ones who keep saying believe. It all mirrors Saban to Bama all too well. Maybe this doesn't get done, but to say it's dead and can't be revived is obtuse and just as dumb as Hart is if he doesn't do whatever it takes to make Gruden our next HC. His head will roll. That's not to say if that happens, we won't all support our new coach and hope for the best, but I'm going to paint the rock every night asking for his head if I have to.

Occupy the hill, we are the 99% that want Gruden!!!

Can I just say:

I think most of the OGs were legitimately sharing information they were privy to. I'm thinking especially of bcarter, boro, and Lex. We all know there was a lot of activity towards the Grude, and these guys happened to be privy to that.

I don't know what the real story is. From my own experience as a company lead, I've suspected that Hart wasn't happy with the way things were going down. I worried that Hart was the lynchpin in this, and that he could sour a deal.

Unfortunately, reliable sources have suggested Hart has rochambeaued the Gruden deal. I DON'T KNOW if that's true. If it is true, Hart should be run out of Knoxville on a burning mattress, IMHO.

It's over. Let it go. Stop getting people's hopes up. I, for one, can't take it anymore. Channel 8 news Rick Russo saidGruden said NO and that his agent said those who thought Gruden would come to TN were all living in a fantasy land.

STOP IT

Forgive me for asking this as i'm sure its been covered. You work in the AD right?

No. I run a business that provides certain services to the AD and coaches in particular. Whomever they hire I will meet within a day or two of them arriving, but I do not work at all for UT.
