With all of the hype surrounding this, I absolutely hate to say this, but it probably is best that Gruden doesn't come.
Here is why: there is NO way he can live up to the hype. None. When things get so built up, there is always a let down. If Gruden goes 8-4 next year, it's bad.
On the other hand: If UT gets any other coach, the fan base will be very down, but at least he will get a chance to exceed expectations because there will be none. If this unnamed next coach goes 8-4, it is a huge improvement both to us and the national media.
I have no "inside" information, this is just me trying to be objective and perhaps a little optimistic.
I fully believe him and a few others in the AD have f'ed this up. Boosters tried as hard as they could but our AD sucks!
Gruden is not the only coach that can win here so this argument doesn't hold water.
Regardless of who the coach is, there is a risk they will lose and a chance they will win. If they win, fans will come and $ will be made.
The margin is a lot more forgiving with a $6 million coaching staff than $9 million.
You don't hire a head coach for his first three games, that would be ignorant.

Don't a lot of these reporters and radio personalities have personal twitter pages that they can use to post things that don't link then to their parent company?
I'm not calling BS on this just yet. I read all his tweets, this could very well be him.
Not trolling here.

Serious question for the OG's, will ya'll still be disappointed with Hart if we were to end up with Patterson or Petersen or someone similar in quality?
I agree with this in its entirety.
Only two possible scenarios and results, and both outcomes are the result of the AD effing this up.
1. the AD has been in negotiations with Gruden since the Dooley firing and the AD wouldn't budge on giving up power/assistant salaries/insert reason... and Gruden Declined. IMO, if you get this close and don't get it done, then the AD obviously effed up.
2. The AD has been sitting on its thumb for two weeks while the Grumors were spreading like wildfire throughout the fanbase and never made a comment on the search, leading the fanbase into a fever pitch over getting Gruden... and then finally contacted Gruden and was politely told no thanks. IMO, if this happened then the AD should be replaced immediately for incompetence.
You people blaming the AD here have no idea what's going on. I'm sure Hart tried. Heaven forbid Gruden declined!
