Gruden thread has turned carnivorous and is eating itself.

Hold it together recruiting forum... hold it together... must resist...

Well if that is the case, then personally, I would prefer they dish out that premium to someone that has been involved in coaching and winning a little more recently than 4 years ago. I don't think this search should be Gruden or bust.

Gruden's the biggest name out.

After that, it's a significant drop off, IMO.

No, they didn't. That's from Hubbs, not UT. It says, "per sources" in what Hubbs wrote. Where is the release from the university saying Gruden is out?

Of course the University isn't going to make a statement. Why would they have to? Have they yet at all to this point on any coaches? It sure seems that Gruden considered himself out of the UT coaching hunt.

There is no search committee. Hart is doing a lot of this on his own terms. Things are not going to be made public, i.e. press releases from the University.

Why hasn't he denied it yet? He denied the Browns ordeal, that's it.

Like I said, I don't think he comes here, but he hasn't denied it.

So you're going to subtract a Super Bowl year? And on top of that who has won at the Raiders consistently while under Al Davis besides Gruden?

Are you familiar with the term outlier and it's relevance in statistical analysis?

The 87-82 includes his time at Oakland

My point is that UT has to pay a premium to get a coach the same caliber as Saban and Meyer. We cannot pay market value. Supply/demand principles are in play.

And his point is that Saban and Meyer has proven their worth at the college level, Gruden has not.

Ron I want to be wrong but that reads like a statement from Hart IMO. I clearly want to be wrong but Hubbs half dozen sources in the AD is pretty damning...

I'm glad there are people like you in this forum that can bring my similar perspectives on these siuations. Unlike yourself, I just don't respond to that kind of stuff anymore. People clearly don't use their head or perform their own research on the matters.

Charlie Strong.

I'd sign Strong every damn day that ends in Y. I really hope they get it done. There are a lot of high profile candidates that are still possibilities. I'd take Fisher, Gundy, Strong, Patterson, or Stoops and be elated. I'm astonished that Gundy seems to be this interested in the job.

I don't think any of those guys are a possibility, personally.

I like that list too. I'm also buying into Fedora. Tell him to bring Quinshad Davis lol

Hubbs stuff sounded pretty direct. What do people want, a PC to say no Gruden? Why would Hart waste his time. Who knows if he really wanted him? ( Sounds silly) but nobody but Hart himself knows.
