Tomorrow would be a perfect time for an announcement if you think about it. Our biggest basketball game to date against Georgetown on ESPN and the SEC Championship Game the following day. Gruden would be talked about on both.

That being said, I won't believe it's Gruden until the papers are signed and made public.

That's just what they are telling the players so nothing gets out.

Tomorrow at 2 they walk in and Gruden is standing there, black suit, orange tie, Chucky scowl, "Guys, I'm sure most of you know me, if not my name is Jon Gruden. The days of kicking Tennessee around are over."

Agreed. I hope Hart and PR people are saavy enough to know this. If it isnt someone else, a firm statement saying Gruden isn't the next coach, should be released a few days before announcement

I think they know enough that they don't want things thrown at a coach that isn't Gruden by irate fans

Exactly. Until Hart rules Gruden out, I can't see another coach being named, and there's no way I see him calling a presser just to say it's a no-go on Gruden. That's something you'd just get quoted verbatim and let the radio jockeys play with on air.

Hart is too smart to even mention Gruden if the coach isn't Gruden. He would just introduce the new coach and be silent on Gruden forever.

I totally believe that we are going to have a press conference... I do not know what to think because of conflicting reports some time back.... however I have ALWAYS trusted the OG's and I still do

Poster on another site stating that students on campus are honking horns and screaming about getting Gruden. Could be an isolated incident but I wondered if anyone can corroborate?
