Question...what was Saban's initial salary at bama his first year? I see no reason why Gruden shouldn't be a good amount above that figure...but higher than Saban right now, I can understand the need to negotiate there...By the way, I'm assuming Saban makes more now than his initial year

Agree, but when he first signed with bama I think it was only 8yr 32 mill (4/yr) His current extension is 5.3 this yr, 5.5 next or somewhere around there.

Ego issue IMO. Gruden won a SB, wants more $$ than Saban, reasonable. Saban won multiple NC's, UT doesn't want to start off paying JG more than Saban seeing he's never coached in college, also reasonable. Start at 4.8 - 5.2 with escalators/incentives, make it happen.

And this just goes to show you that everyone in the media is actually clueless this go around. We have had multiple reasons reported by different media as to the reason it's a no-go with Gruden. Makes me even more confident that someone is feeding the media different misinformation, and Gruden will be our coach. Gotta keep believing, because I am tired of disappointment with this program. So, if we don't get Gruden, then I can handle another one.
