this year is his best year and he is in year 3

his defense is 44th in the country, 5th of 8 in big east

he has not played a ranked team this year, it took him to OT to beat cincy, florida intnl took him to the brink, up 36-7 against UNC at the half lville give up 27 2nd half points almost losing the game, he lost to syracuse, he lost to CT

in 2011 he lost to florida intnl, lost to marshall

he has to date played and beaten 1 ranked team - a win against #24 WVU in 2011

so yeah i dont think he has proven much about his ability to coach and win
Has he played any ranked teams other than the one WVU game? I don't know of any.

no it doesnt - they give up 24.5 points a game according to the link - that is behind arizona state for 44th - try looking again - just make sure it is points per game - that is the default it should come up to - i was clicking around out of curiosity on my computer and i think the 25th is yds/game

I looked at yds per game. Points is meaningless, offense can give up points with turnovers. Offense can't give up yards on defense.

Points per game is meaningless without context as well. A team who runs a no-huddle offense is going to run more plays, therefore the defense is on the field longer and will give up more points on average.

It's also bad because it includes Special Teams and points off INTs/Fumbles. Yards is the better of the two.

BTW - I've been using your rosters on PS3 for months. thanks again to you and your crew for all the hard work.

Well this makes me feel better...Stoops wasn't even a choice for UK's search

2/1 Bobby Petrino (former Arkansas head coach)
3/1 David Cutcliffe (Duke head coach)
4/1 Sonny Dykes (Louisiana Tech head coach)
9/2 Tommy Tuberville (Texas Tech head coach)
5/1 Mike MacIntyre (San Jose State head coach)
5/1 Willie Taggart (Western Kentucky head coach)
8/1 Gus Malzahn (Arkansas State head coach)
12/1 Dirk Koetter (Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator)

Why doesn't Hart just put a few million on Koetter, hire him, cash in his ticket, fire him, then pay Gruden $10M/year?

LOL I like the way you think, but these were odds for the UK coach posted on a vegas site 11/8

All I gotta say is that the SEC is lucky I didn't win the lottery last night, we woulda had a helluva staff next season.

With this in mind, I looked up their yards per play. Louisville gave up 5.2 yards per play which was 39th in the country.

Hubbs on Jimbo.

I think Hart believes that Fisher has legit interest and is going to listen to Tennessee.

In the end, how legit is his interest or is he just using it for a raise? We will find out. But I believe that's where the search is. Fisher first and then they go from there.

His defense is top 25. At some point you have to factor in where he is. He took that program at Rock bottom, and in a short time has brought it back to relevance. He doesn't have the budget to staff and recruit at a level that would make Lville elite, so you have to look at what he's done given the resources he was provided. It's always a gamble to take a coach from any conference but the SEC, bit from the available options, he seems to be one of the few with the best resume. You could say the same about a lot of coaches. Has Franklin beaten anyone ranked or even anyone with a winning record? Does that mean he wouldn't at a better school? It's a crap shoot, there isn't anyone available who is a sure thing.

I think you are assuming that Lville has a small athletics budget - it actually is higher than any ACC school - it is a big boy budget - especially when compared against the rest of the Big East

here is link with that info - ACC votes to add Louisville Cardinals - ESPN

EDIT... here is another fun link if you are into this kind of stuff - they are 14th in country in spending - much higher than any other big east school competing in football this year - strong at lville in big east was not even playing field - » Big East

Athletic budget at a basketball school. You can't expect him to make Lville an elite school in the short time he has been there given the state of the program when he got there. The turnaround so far has been impressive IMO.

FYI...Strong followed Steve Kragthorpe whose record at Louisville was 15-21. Dooley's record at Tennessee was 15-21.

I think when the schedule is as light as it has been the last couple years for Lville it can happen much quicker than if he were in a big boy conference - now i dont say that to mean there is no way he can be a good coach - i would just argue that at this point he has done very little to PROVE that this is what he would be

i think there are many candidates out there who have proven far more than he has

has he done a nice job at Lville and would i be happy if i were Lville to retain him? sure

does that mean he is ready to get UT back to being UT? that is a different question entirely

and around 40 is probably a fair gauge of where they are - to your other question sorry i didnt phrase it well but he has only played 1 game against a ranked team

so on the good side if we get him - he is undefeated against top 25 teams

on the bad sad 1-0 doesnt seem too tested for me (and the one was #24 at time of playing them)

I would to get Strong. I've been calling for him all along. What I don't get is why Hart isn't showing any interest or maybe he will next week in New York.

The 3 years prior to Strong arriving at UL they signed 1 5* & 4 4*s, since Strongs arrival they have signed 10 4*'s & that includes this class which isn't finished yet.
