I think by 2014 eight wins with Golden is possible.

He would have to not only salvage this years class, but seriously improve it, or he would have a massive hole in an already thin lineup. I don't think he would excite ANY recruits into switching this year, so I think he would have the same problems as Dooley inherited. I do not under any circumstance see him winning many more games aside from divine intervention.

In the end Tennessee might have to bite the bullet and take a gamble on Petrino or Tressel. I know I'm going to get flamed so flame away, but if the rest of the big names turn us down. The only ones left is coaches that have hardly no experience and no one really knows. Let's just hope Gruden comes through.

He is a defensive minded coach that we certainly need

I love his physical style he plays. It's what wins in the SEC

He is a proven elite recruiter

He has proven he is winner as a HC

He is young which I think is important with this hire

Young as in compared to Paterno or who? He's 52. I'd say that's in between.

Give me a Golden coached team in two years and I'll bet we're in the SEC championship game. The big thing with him is getting an excellent recruiting staff. Golden can flat out coach.

So has this thread officially died to the Gruden dream??

I have been around since Gruden II and this is the shakiest I have seen the thread. I still believe it will happen simply because of Hart's inaction. During his presser when Dooley was fired, the guy was way too confident and already seemed to have his guy. Until today, there has been nothing that would lead anyone to think differently.

Why? Fedora runs the same thing as Sumlin at TAMU.

Actually, not really...Sumlin runs his O like Gundy, Leach, Holgorsen...Fedora is really a little more like what Urban Meyer ran but a bit of a hybrid...the way the plays are called, no huddle looks it's a bit different.

Just so you know where I'm comin' from...If we're down the list that far, I'd rather shoot for Greg Roman.

If he is hired i hope your right, i just dont see any evidence to back this up. Im not impressed by temple.

Hubbs, Hyams, and Low just seem lost on this search. According to Hubbs, Dave Hart is just sitting in his office, making a couple of phone calls, and waiting on the coach's convention. He shot down the Gruden stuff until today when Hyams came out with the cancellation news and then he regurgitated it. Now he's guessing that Hart was just throwing a hail mary by asking Gruden for a preliminary meeting and he was immediately rejected. This just does not add up to me. Why would the AD leak this to Hubbs and Hyams to embarass themselves instead of just saying that Gruden was not apart of the search? Sounds like the AD is controlling these guys and trying to get the heat off of Gruden by releasing this information.

Yup. Quite a few folks are having problems with this. It just doesn't seem right. This post on OuterMonvolia sums it up for me and makes a hell of a lot of sense here. I dunno where it originated from, but it is very interesting. Scroll down it's the longer post on there. I think it was C/P'd from another forum.

At any rate, just to sum up, I think the AD is controlling what's coming out and getting their media minions to squash the Memphis report last night. I think ESPN did the same thing with Mike and Mike's interview with Gruden. Either way, I think we'll know for certain by Friday. Past that I think our chances to land Gruden are slim to none, but I expected that anyway because they need to get a coach in fairly soon.
