Official Jon Gruden Thread XII

This was my thought when I read the statement. Needs to be his decision for ultimate success.

I don't care as long as we get him here. He is going to come in and give it everything regardless because he loves Tennessee football. Also if the thing about the browns is really true then that also prevents him from leaving to go to the NFL.

I don't think he just wants to win, he wants to be unscored upon. But really, those numbers are unbelievable to me... but then again, as much as the SEC brings in, you'd think since the only people they have on payroll is administration, with players for free(basically), it does seem to be reasonable to have competitive pay.

The latest salary package rumor is over $12m/yr. That's NFLish.

I must have missed that. Goes with the photo they put out before the game of Gruden addressing the crew. Not sure if he addresses them every week? or maybe it was a "last MNF"

Because coaches fib a lot. Saban said he wouldn't leave Miami....but he did cause Mal Moore flew down there and told him he wasn't leaving without him.

It is amazing to me the lack of knowledge within the inner media circles...

I talked to two local reporters today and they told me they were 100% certain that the following was Hart's short list...

1. Jimbo Fisher
2. Butch Jones
3. Al Golden
4. Larry Fedora
5. Charlie Strong

And two other reporters in the area automatically chimed in and said they agreed...not a one of them has heard a single thing about Gruden...just goes to prove how tightly the info is being kept..

Good job today.

If Gruden is so unsure that his wife is forcing it, and unsure about recruiting and the college gae, and the other stuff reported, then I am a tad uncomfortable. I want him at UT as much as anyone, but I dont want him there unless he's all in and ready for the job and genuinely wants it(which I thought he did) Not sure I want a coach who takes the job reluctantly (if the guy who has link to Lamonte in LA post was true)

The dude hasn't coached in college in 20 years. Things were a lot different then.

Haven't you ever accepted a job and spent the night before you started wondering if you made the right choice?

Will you do this right? Will you do that right?

I have no doubt that he wants to coach here, and I think he will really thrive, but it must be a little daunting to look at from the outside. So many rules, so many details, and frankly, all eyes will be on Gruden and UT.

He wants to come here to win. I don't think he needs 4.9 mill, and likely he won't actually need that. He just wants to make sure that there is no impediment to success. I have no problem with that.

You got some info?

Please stop begging these attention seeking posters that can't just post the info they claim to have without "teasing" the board first. It clearly is nothing but a way to gather attention toward themselves and should clearly show us the motive of the posters!!

You'd think you guys have never negotiated anything before . . .

You have to give the impression you're willing to walk away .... even when you're not. I'm telling you this is two sides negotiating the heck out of this. That doesn't generally happen unless both sides are intent on making a deal work.
