That means he's already found his guy and has no need to perform a search OR he's not very smart and doesn't value his job. I'm guessing option 1.

People really believe that the AD at UT would wait two weeks after the HC was fired to start a search? Yeaaaaaaaah right.

I dont know if Hart has his man or not, but it's sounding like Hart will be a very busy man next week.

Here's the updated coaching search info from Volquest this morning...

As far as candidates not named Gruden, Jimbo Fisher seems to be coveted by both Tennessee and Auburn, with the Tigers perhaps having an additional inroad from their previous history with Fisher.

While Kentucky nabbed Mark Stoops to replace Joker Phillips, the Wildcats' top choice --- Butch Jones --- remains someone whom VolQuest.com believes would like to hear from Tennessee.

Ditto Butch Davis, but multiple sources indicated there is virtually zero chance of Davis being a factor whatsoever in the Vols' search.

Tennessee also, we are told, heard from the agent of Bobby Petrino, but the Vols did not wish to pursue that route.

Similarly, Larry Fedora seems to have interest in UT's opening, it was indicated to us, and Fedora could be parting ways in the near future with North Carolina.

Elsewhere, Mike Gundy is a name worth watching. Yes, Gundy is at his alma mater at Oklahoma State, but Gundy had legitimate interest in the Vols' opening when Lane Kiffin was hired and those close to him insist Gundy has an genuine interest in the Southeastern Conference.

And finally, Tennessee could choose to speak to Charlie Strong as early as Friday and certainly in New York next week.

Didn't Hart say in his pc that he needed to do some Boise cleaning to have the right answers so when he did talk to the coaches, he'd have answers they would like to hear. It makes perfect sense to me that he has quietly lined up interviews for the weekend because he now has quality answers for when the coach interviews us.

I cannot help but hear Fedora's name every time I read something about the coaching vacancy. I didn't really know anything about him. I looked him up and his assistant coaches and this is what I came up with if Fedora was to be named the new head coach at UT. Fedora has been in the SEC with UF as their Offensive Coord form 2002-2004. Then he has made stops at Ok St, Southern Miss, and now UNC.

Blake Anderson- Offensive Coord and QB Coach.
He has been with Fedora since 2008. He is a young, up and coming coach.

Dan Disch- Defensive Coord.
He was with Fedora at UF in 2004. He was the Defensive Coord and Secondary Coach at Southern Miss in 2011 and is now with Fedora at UNC.

Randy Jordan - Running backs Coach.
He is the current RB's coach at UNC. He has coached at Texas A&M and Nebraska also. He has no previous ties to Fedora which is good for CJG. I think Fedora will know whats at stake (North and Green) when he chooses his RB Coach. CJG has good ties in the Carolinas and is one of the better RB coaches in the South.

Gunter Brewer- Passing game Coord and WR's Coach.
He coached at Oklahoma St with Fedora from 2005-2010. He has been coaching receivers since the mid 80's. He recruited Dez Bryant while he was there and also Justin Blackmon (who was a 3 star and Brewer really helped with his development). Brewer already has an established relationship with Marquez North.

Walt Bell- Tight Ends Coach.
He was the WR's coach in 2011 at Southern Miss. Very young guy. He doesn't impress me that much. He also doesn't seem big on recruiting.

Chris Kapilovic- Offensive Line Coach.
He has been the O-Line coach under Fedora since 2008. This guy actually recruits fairly well. If Fedora was to be the guy, since Pittman was at UNC before, maybe he would give Pittman the nod. This seems like a tough battle for Pittman IMO.

Deke Adams- Defensive Line Coach.
He has been the D-Line coach under Fedora since 2009. Young solid coach. He recruits pretty well. He currently has Nazair Jones, Daejuan Drennon, and Greg Webb committed. These guys are all ranked in the top 25 at their position.

David Duggan- Special Teams Coord.
He was the LB coach at Southern Miss with Fedora from 2008-2011. There isn't much to find on this guy.

Vic Koenning- Associate Head Coach (Defense).
He was the Defensive Coord at Clemson from 2005-2008. He has no previous ties with Fedora.

I know Fedora isn't the fans choice but he led Southern Miss to a 12-2 record last year. They beat Virginia, UCF, they slaughtered Memphis, beat Houston, and won their bowl game. This year, they finished 0-12. And Ellis Johnson just got the boot.

Last year, UNC was 7-6 overall and 3-5 in the ACC. This year, they are 8-4 ad 5-3 in the ACC.

I think Fedora should be the next choice after Gruden. He's a fantastic offensive mind, proven head coach, has SEC experience, and is a very good recruiter.

1. Jon Gruden
2. Mike Gundy
3. Larry Fedora
4. Jimbo Fisher
5. Charlie Strong
6. Jim Mora JR

IMO.:good!:

I would be happy with any of these...anyone else I will puke.:cray:

If he was named the coach, I hope he brings Gunter Brewer. Very solid under the radar guy.

I guess you could see it that way. I just don't buy it.

Have you listened to this interview with Dr. Jerry Punch? If not, give it a listen. He has decades of experience in CFB, coaching searches first hand, seems to be as close to an expert on this situation as anyone...

Move Mora to 4, and add Taggart instead of Fisher and I agree. A few others like Roman that I would be okay with, but that is pretty much it.

I like Taggart a lot, but I think he's too big of a risk at this point. We need someone with a bit more of a track record because this is a do or die hire IMO.

If the Gruden deal falls through, there two names that I believe would absolutely kill at Tennessee and kill it quickly.

Both guys are young, energetic, charismatic, great recruiters, and driven.

Bill O'Brien and James Franklin would both win big at Tennessee with our resources, tradition, and brand.

I have a hard time believing that Hart would wait nearly 2 full weeks to start conducting interviews, like bcarter said in one of the Gruden threads either Hart has his man or he's the dumbest AD's in the country.

No more of a risk than Roman, who you mentioned IMO. Taggart isn't my top option, but if the other 6 on that list say no, I'd have no problem taking him.

Yes, I heard it and like the good Dr. I am a believe when I see in Gruden. I think he's playing us for more money and control in the NFL. If we have our guy, we either have Gruden or Butch Davis and Hubbs said no to Davis. I stand by the Hart hasn't interviewed anyone yet.

I won't 100% believe until he's introduced either. But I have a very good feeling you, me and everyone else on VN is going to become 100% believers very soon.

I want to believe the line of thinking that Dr Punch put out there I really do...but what if Hart didn't get his man...

At the end of the day, I just want the next head coach to be announced sooner rather than later and most importantly I want it to be someone that I've heard of, not someone I have to wikipedia to see where in the hell he is coming from.

Skeet, not looking for inside info.. But you as a fan, what's your personal top 3 looking like other than Gruden.

From a fan standpoint i would say Mora, Strong and Fedora in no order.I would be very surprised to see someone like Gundy having legit interest here, maybe trying to get a raise. I really dont want Fisher either, the guy cant go undefeated in the acc with sec talent.Want nothing to do with Golden, Petrino or Davis. I dont think we have to worry about Davis or petrino being hired by Hart, just dont see anyway he would do it.
