From the cliff notes:

Via twitter
It is RUMORED that Chad Clifton was told by Manning that Gruden was the next coach of Tennessee. Working to confirm.
Spencer Riley as well.

I can dispel this rumor. Actually talked to my friend last night who does talk with Chad and has spoken with him a few times over the last week. No yes and no no. He said he wasn't sure and had not talked with Manning concerning Gruden. FWIW

Side note: by friend asked if I get on vq--said no--only volnation--he said chad was made aware of some comment about him being at a bar and telling someone basically this above on vq---he laughed and made it clear he never spoke to anyone in any bar concerning any conversation with Manning.

If the part ownership thing is true, looks more like he wants to be here a while and has little intention to bolt to the NFL. Maybe it's me but unless he plans on going to Cleveland to coach, this would be an issue with a team hiring him if he owns a piece of another team. A stretch?

It's a good observation. I'm hoping he sees UT as a place he wants to retire. If the rumored length of contracts are true, it's likely he does. If he gets the itch to go to the NFL in 5 years though, I'm sure he will have returned us to prominence.

Hey guys good morning!

I read a bunch last night about the Memphis radio station saying this and that.

That's good for a couple reasons... Our local media or gruden will prob come out within a couple days to deny or give some truth to it.

My dad haha of all people Texted me this morning saying "how bout gruden" is it starting to be reported by our local media now what the Memphis station said?

If there is really a part ownership deal, then I can see a ton of red tape involved with the AA.

I've thought all along that when Rucker starts backtracking and saying he never ruled out Gruden we would be close to sealing the deal. So obviously today is the day.

seems like the news is starting to pick up. I do find it odd that ESPN hasn't run a story on anything really involving Gruden and UT yet. hmmmm....

Kinda what I was wondering too. Are there other college coaches that are part owners of pro teams?

Provided there isn't an issue legally, can you imagine what that would do for recruiting? Wow!
