If this was true (which I don't think it is because I wouldn't expect the NCAA to be okay with something like this), I think something like this getting out could be bad for negotiations.

I'm starting to feel like a Jehovahs witness at work. I go around all day trying to convert people to grudenism... I go into their offices and say excuse me I would like to take a few minutes to speak with you about your relationship with Jon, have you accepted him as your one and only coach? For he is the only path to championships and the resurrection of ut football but they just slam their doors in my face..... Can't wait to get to the promised land and prove them wrong!

Hell, I've got $100 and a 12 pack of beer riding on it. They better close the damn deal!

well Fellow Grudenites, its been fun tonight and bound to get more fun this week as the lid is seemingly being blown off this thing. I'll see you tomorrow. Grude Night from The Newman

Not only that, but the fact that it would be a ****ing NCAA violation (pretty big one at that)...

I'm not doubting you, but I would be a little surprised that a major news outlet would get to the point of reporting this without at least tempering it with the suggestion that it may be a violation. I mean, are you certain? I know any goodies, much smaller ones, are violations if trying to lure a player, but how similar are the rules in luring a coach? I wonder if there's any precedent for something like this.

Ummm the answer to that is about 6 million dollars a year. A spot a UT as the head coach and the money to build a super staff, coach up players in top notch facilities, compete in the most competitive league in the country, the SEC, and play in one the biggest stadiums in the country in front of one of the most rabid fan bases on Gods green earth.

Chuckey is coming to town for Christmas!

Good answer, liking the sound of that!

I have NEVER ruled out Jon Gruden for the Tennessee job. Heard even yesterday that it was possible. I'll just have to see it to believe it.
