Has there ever been an immediate commit due to a "high caliber" coach signing?

I would think it would be possible if we hit the grand slam hire.

Only a year but he was head coach at Arizona 4-5 years. Took them to a bowl game or two until he had a bad year last year. Not a bad hire for UK but I thought they would go with a more exciting offensive mind.

I did. My folks were 50/50 on what we talked about.

The one I've been trying to get with has been out of the office. He shares a common last name to whom we discussed.

Yeah, well, folks in my hometown (Martin) were jacked about this over thanksgiving weekend. I went out on Saturday and apparently he'd come in and mentioned it to a few people on Friday.

The problem here is the gap between what he actually said and how it got construed / repeated by overzealous friends and fans. Additionally, there were a few dudes in town who used to be managers for the football team who very well could've put words in his mouth.

Not trying to set myself up as an "insider," just pointing out that the sources here aren't very reliable.

Not if Gruden is the next head coach.

I'm not buying any of this negativity about recruits jumping ship.

We will be the only school in NCAA with Jon Gruden as our HC.

That alone is worth about 10 4-5 star recruits in this year's class IMO.

Saban was announced at Bama on January 4th 2007.

Bama still finished with a top 10 recruiting class.

People really need to chill.
