So what happens if we don't get him?

1. Mattress stores all over the state experience a sudden burst in sales.

2. With the money saved by contracting a 2nd tier coach, the AD and administration hire additional bodyguards.

3. Vanderbilt, NC State, and Tennessee Tech poach our dwindling recruiting list.

4. A number of prolific contributors disappear from the fan message boards, while certain reporters begin to show the effects of prolonged shots of Red Bull and tequila.

5. UT football begins 3 years of renewed irrelevance on a national front.

6. Derek Dooley giggles uncontrollably over a $5M pile of dollar bills.

Figured I would post this here instead of the Cliff Notes since I am not any kind of true insider. I have a guy at work whose father-in-law is a lawyer in Knox and booster of UT told him that 5 main boosters have put up 18 mil over 4 years to get Gruden. Funny thing is I have heard this from another source also. I dont claim to have any super inside connections so take this for what you want. Also he said that he didnt expect to hear an announcment on a new coach until mid DEC.

We'll need an extra warehouse for Petrino. Lots of excess baggage.

7-5 next year and 10-2 the next would burn all that baggage. He is a great coach, if he had truly hit bottom and lost everything he has, he could be a grand slam hire imo.

Redemption is a powerful motivator, and a motivated clear headed Petrino is very close to the best you could do at any school. Jmo

Apparently the 7-10 day window was relayed to recruits on initial calls just after Dooley was fired from what I have gathered. That was 9 days ago, I am sure every recruit they have been working got contacted as soon as it happened.

Im pretty sure that quote came from a recent in-home visit to Jordan Wilkins this past weekend .

My options are not interested so I got to forgive Petrino and look to him.
I feel sure the Gruden issue will be done by Saturday. A few may hang on to the Gruden dream until the 18th. I think AD is going to hire Strong soon.

Not sure Strong helped himself with those 2 losses at the end. Sigh

He does do more with less....and coach em up, but recruiting is my question when it comes to him...

Hope he is motivated enough for that

In today's Times News, both Jimbo Fisher and Bob Stoops make it clear they have no interest in going anywhere and it doesn't sound as if Jon Gruden is either except to the NFL. Charlie Strong, Briles, and Franklin are probably the three hot candidates that schools are looking at now.

NFL draft guy put out that there is a 99.9 % chance that Gruden will go to NFL, then backtracked and said that VOLS are a darkhouse. I think he meant a 99.9% chance he's leaving ESPN.
