'13 TN ATH Jordan Wilkins

"I am with Auburn as of right now, but I am looking around," Jordan Wilkins said. "Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt are the other schools I am looking at, and I may take official visits to all three."

Wilkins is not ready to decommit, but he does have some concerns about the future and he just wants to make sure of his decision.

"I'm looking around to see if Auburn is the best fit for me. I want to see what other schools have and just how they compare to Auburn.

"I love the place (Auburn, Ala.) and that is a big part of why I am still committed, but I do not know how it will be when I get there and who the coach may be."

The 6-foot-1, 210 pound running back out of Cordova (Tenn.) St. Benedictine at Auburndale has not set up any of his official visits yet.

(Wilkins Father) "We don't know, I haven't talked to Jordan and we have to find out what's going on. We don't know what will happen with other coaches. Right now, we're taking it day-by-day. Is Jordan still available? Yes. Are we looking at other schools? Yes. I'm not saying we aren't going to stay committed to Auburn, but we're looking. It depends on who the new coach is and what happens when he arrives there."At this point, it's hard for me to say, this is news to us.

We haven't talked as a family, we'll do that Sunday night. Vanderbilt is still there, Ole Miss is still there. He wants to stay in the SEC, but our choices are limited right now with other schools letting their coaches go too. Really, it boils down to Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Tennessee depending on their new coach, and staying with Auburn. He likes Auburn, he likes the school, and I told him you have to like the school because coaches come and go. You have to commit to a school, but we'll just wait and see."

Auburn running back commit Jordan Wilkins will look around. Tennessee, a school conducting its own coaching search, might be wise to call Wilkins, who attends St. Benedict High School in Cordova, Tenn.

“They were on me,” Wilkins said of the Vols, per ESPN. “Haven’t heard from them in a while but I’d like to. They’re still in the picture.”

This is from Mr.SEC but they got their quotes from ESPN :hi:

Recruiting coordinator Darin Hinshaw will have a busy weekend as well with a lot of miles logged. He's schedule to be in Memphis in the early part of the week, seeing Jason Carr among other Memphis standouts, including running back Jordan Wilkins. We briefly spoke with Wilkins this weekend and he said he'll be watching who Tennessee hires as its head coach closely as he has renewed interest in the Vols with Gene Chizik being out at Auburn. Vanderbilt is still in play there as well, but he's certainly interested in Tennessee and has stayed in touch with Vol coaches.

wonder if / hope Hinshaw will be kept on staff. Hinshaw Graham and Pittman would be cool to keep

If it's Gruden, I don't see Hinshaw staying. If it's not Gruden, I think the chances are better.

I understand that a new coach will want to bring in his own guys, but seriously, was there anything wrong with our offense this year?

If recruits are being told the new coach will be in place in 7-10 days it's very likely the new coach has already been found, right? hmmm

That, or they know who's interested, have narrowed down a list, and plan to interview those candidates over the course of this week.

"I haven't finalized it yet, but I'm thinking about opening it back up, opening my recruitment back up," Wilkins said Monday night. "I've talked to a couple of coaches lately, like Tennessee came by (Monday), I talked to Jay Graham on the phone. I talked to Arkansas (Sunday) night. Ole Miss stopped by the house (Sunday) night and I talked to Vanderbilt (Monday), too."

On Monday Tennessee receivers coach Darin Hinshaw met with Wilkins while the Vols' running backs coach, Graham, spoke to him over the phone.
"They mainly said they're Tennessee and they have a great tradition. They're going to get a great head coach and that we'll know a week or 10 days from now, I think. And they said that they're going to recruit me hard," Wilkins said. "They said it depends on whether or not they bring in a whole new coaching staff or if some of them will stay, but to just stick with them and give them a chance to recruit me. I'm just going to wait and see what happens. I know there's a couple of schools like that. Auburn, Arkansas and Tennessee. Those are all three top programs that are out there right now and I'm just waiting to find out what happens."

"Playing time, that's my number one thing. I want to have a chance to play early and Tennessee doesn't have a running back commit in this class. A couple of other things, like relationships with the coaches," Wilkins said. "Because my high school coach is my number one coach and I tell everybody that. I really like having a good relationship with my coach. Every coach you're going to butt heads with, but you want to know that he's always trying to make you better. So, a close relationship with them."

"I'm just waiting to see who they bring in. It's kind of hard right now because my running backs coach from Auburn is on ineligible to recruit right now so it's kind of hard to keep in touch with any of them. I'm just going to wait and take my time," Wilkins said. "There's no rush with anything and see what all plays out and what coaches go to what schools."

Yes, but that's not what I meant. At the time i said that, the rumor was THAT Tee would come with Gruden, and I meant that if Tee comes, there wouldn't really be a spot for Hinshaw. I'd prefer Hinshaw to Tee personally.

I agree that Hinshaw's been good for us. He's recruited well, and ZR's play has definitely been elevated.

However, I would love to have Tee on staff, personally. The fact that he led us to a national championship is a given.

He's a heck of a recruiter, from all that I've read, and you can't really say that USC's wide receivers have been disappointing this year. (Yes, I know that they were superstars before he arrived, but they've played to their potential, which is more than all of our boys have done.)

I guess in the end, if Tee to UT is a possibility, I'm not about to start turning away former Vols that want to come home.

Anyone feel free to summarize the 247 article stating UT is back in it for him... thanks

Not a whole lot to report. Hinshaw went by his school and said we still want him. Schools haven't back off since his injury. Vandy, Arkansas, and Ole Miss have been by to visit as well.

He seems interest in UT.
