If Gruden isnt announced today, my confidence in getting him goes from 90% to 10%.

The season is over and our old coach is fired.

If they are hesitating to announce Gruden, it is because someone has a reservation about hiring him, either the money or the power or the belief in his ability to coach in college.

If they wait any longer its because they are genuinely looking for an alternative to Gruden.

Just my opinion.

Do you honestly think he will be announced on MONDAY considering his job as of today is analyst on MONDAY FRIGGIN NIGHT FOOTBALL... SMH

Basilio is like that large pizza, pitcher of beer, and chocolate cake...devoid of any nutrients (facts) but enjoyable in the moment...

Yeah like while media starts the SECs playin game to the BCS NC. The equally biggest news is Tennessee got their man. Yeah publicity will all be all SEC and shockwaves will be sent to the entire country for recruits committed elsewhere or not.

I really want those recruits that will be present for the BCSCG to be totally distracted by the earth shattering news of what went on at TN...

If we get turned down by the best out there (IMO, Gruden, Stoops, Patterson, and Peterson) and we have to go all the way down to Golden, I will not be pleased but I will still support my Vols.

IMO the four names you mentioned are much longer shots that gruden. Gruden is the only real shot at a bigtime high profile name

One thing I dont understand is why anybody even thinks anyone else would be interested. I mean hell, when kiffydoosh left, we couldnt beg the #8 guy to come and settled for #9...so now all of a sudden we got to wait on #2,3,4,5 to say no?? Where were they at 3 years ago? What about us improved to make us a coaching target?? Gruden wants to be here...

FTR, all this media stuff is BS.

Link not from VN?

still a skeptic. Hope I'm wrong. There are just so many factors on both ends that could put a kink. From AD support to Gruden other contracts to contract stipulations to hesitation to whatever. It's my understanding that he makes over 15 million a year in total earnings. How much would he have to give up? Any? All? None?

But on another note, if all is as others say in the Gruden corner here, the ink isn't dry or we would all know, imo. But, Gruden could still be the man and it could get worked out. In the meantime, Hart has to do his job and keep contacting coaches. Gruden has been known to leave people at the altar, and you better have a backup plan/s set and ready to fire.

I will take that from you. A big difference than what you were saying three weeks ago.

30th definitely makes the most sense because of the SECG. Forget the game Gruden would be all the media is talking about. No better timing as far as making a big splash.

I can sign up for that, it's 4 days difference. Either way, this week is it for me being all in on the Gruden rumors.

After that I think I'm in the camp of UT is seriously looking at other candidates and all this "Gruden is a 100% lock" that has been on this thread since the beginning is bunk.

One more take and I am through for a little while. I said the 30th was a date I liked but by no means would I be off the Gruden train if it didn't go down by then. I think from dec1 to 5 could happen also. I will also say that if by the 17th of December we still have no coach and there has still been no denial from Gruden camp or adm then it will be Gruden or they will have to call out the riot police!! Nothing is for sure till it is but I am all in for GRUDEN! BRING GRUDEN HOME!! GO VOLS GET GRUDEN!!

Highly unlikely that Gruden announced on Monday as he is in Philly for the MNF. I'm hoping for Friday but I get my info off a message board.

think about it.

Stoops - you think Gruden is expensive???
Golden - too many question marks. Miami is a mess, and hes gonna have to stick it out there.
Fisher - this is probably Auburns biggest target IMO
Strong - not proven enough for SEC
Mora - UCLA isnt going to let him leave. Sorry. This is the closest theyve had to winning in a while.
Gundy - find me an example of ANYTHING ON EARTH (living or inanimate) that was taken from T Boone Pickens that he really wanted to keep. Yeah.... Not gonna happen.
Patterson - Arkansas better pay up for this one.
Petersen - why would he leave? he is now their version of Paterno (pre scandal)
Mullen - No offense, but Tennessee stealing Miss St coaches. Thats Arkansas style stuff. I dont see it at TN.

Respected skeptic

If you read my post. the play in game meaning the SEC Championship game. On the eve of that the media on friday will be all SEC commentary and inject another big fish to share Georgia and Bamas thunder a bit.

I really want to believe all the true believers in here. However, when they attack media members who have an opinion contrary to theirs, while praising that sportsshmorts blog, I have a hard time taking the whole thing serious.

Once again thank you for your perspective. This is definitely one of the most odd things I have watched transpire. So much misdirection. You see some who have posted Gruden is done for some time. Then guys like Slice come and feel the same way. Then others who say it isn't even close. Now there are quetions as to if Tennessee wants to make the jump with Gruden.

I feel that either Hart has his ace up his sleeve, or he is going to have to scramble and over pay so he doesn't have to sale a bargain to a restless customer base. Stakes have risen since other job openings as well. Names like Strong will start being scooped up.

So according to the media, "Gruden is on the side now". Could it be that UT is going through the motions of having a coaching search to make things look good?

Two words. Turner. Gill.

I firmly believe Gill was blown out a year too soon at Kansas. One more year might have bought him another one. Kansas saw Weiss as a recognizable name and knew they could get him so trashed the Gill plan after only 2 years.

Here's the thing that keeps this in play. Neither side has officially denied the rumors. Working out details. This job has Gruden written all over it. Ties, ego etc. He restores program to prominence and he is held in same regard as the TN legends. Boosters know that. If he wants the job then he is the guy

You would find something wrong with Vince Lombardi.
Sheesh.

Gruden has been my #3 all along, behind Patterson(1) and Stoops (2)...
Let's see how the chips fall.
