It can't be stressed enough. There just aren't enough quality candidates out there to fill the number of positions open.

Gruden will not accept a college coaching position anywhere but UT right now, so there is no competition for him (college).

Any notion that we have backed off from him for any reason is absolute insanity.

We can't back off of ANY high-level coach who has ANY interest in us at all.

To do so would be unfathomable.

You have to laugh at the people wanting to fire Hart because "UT has softened on the Gruden deal". If the price is too high, the price is too high. If he is asking more than the boosters (all of the ones pulling the strings) want to give, then it is what it is. I firmly believe that Hart was a 3rd party to the Gruden negotiations and will/is being told to go find a new coach now that the boosters aren't as enamored of Chucky as they once were.

I cannot fathom the adm. or hart cooling on Gruden, it would be the beginning of the end for him and Cheek at UT! No way no how I do not buy that. GO VOLS GET GRUDEN SOOOON!:rock:

This. People act like Gruden is an easy hire.. Teams have been trying to get him for years.. And he has a very good gig right now.. It's not like with Saban.. Saban realized the nfl wasn't for him.. It was perfect timing.

The only other name that would have me dancing in the streets would be Stoops..And there are others that I would like but not be jumping outta my skin if they are hired.

It won't just be this message board.

Regardless of what anybody says, there ARE important boosters that are full on Grudenites.

If it isn't Gruden (which is unlikely), then this message board will be the molehill compared to the mountain.

If they can get Gruden and don't, then I do not envy Dave Hart. This campus will literally riot if Al Golden or another lower-tier coach is hired.
