It is a situation now to anyone but Gruden will be set up to fail given the fan base is so committed to one name. I agree if he doesn't come, he needs to come out and say why or the next coach will probably not get the support they should given the large % of the fan base that sees Gruden as "our only hope". I am borderline one of them, not many names that excite me outside of Gruden. They know this and are working relentlessly to put this together imo.

Maybe this goes without saying but, has it occurred to anyone that if Hart hires anyone but Gruden, given his popularity with the fanbase, Hart's job is next in line if the team comes out flat next year. It would seem the pressure is on Hart to make it happen.

If he hires anything but a homerun (ie, no Golden, no dykes, no Fedora, no Graham, etc), he will not make it to the first game.

He is hiring for his job.

I just hope KPD installs diving boards on the Gay street bridge so when people jump at least it can be entertaining. My source who I will not reveal said the deal is DEAD. Several other media types are also reporting the deal is dead. Open your ears and minds and accept the fact Gruden isn't coming. It'll make things easier...wasting my breath I know.

I do find your use of the word "other" here interesting as it would suggest your source is a media member, or you are.

Hart is essentially committing career suicide if he passes on Gruden to deliver anything less than Stoops (and maybe a very few select others).

Let's compare track records. Have you seen Larry's latest position? SBV, DocVol, Jay, Boro, Lex, have all said this is in the works. Volstate chimes in with condescension so we should give that equal play? I can say I don't know. I would love Gruden to be the coach and if he isn't the posters I listed will not run from their prognostication. If it isn't Gruden I will still be happy because anyone will be better than what we had.
