I know i have no credibility on these forums but whatever take this for what it is. My sister dates a player on the team and she texted me telling me players were called into a meeting today at 10 AM and were informed a coaching decision will be announced this week. She is in class right now so I can't get any more details at the moment.

Update: Meeting was cancelled today but players were informed by trainers and staff to be prepared for a meeting this week regarding the coaching decision

I admit this will sound malicious and I don't care. Tell your SOURCE that if they are truly connected to people who have the ability to make or break this that to Make it happen. Revenue of the power people comes back if they spend it. People that travel from all over the state to come to Neyland will buy fuel at Pilot. People that go to or watch the games will have the Hopper and go back and watch the games as Dish subscribers. People want to build houses and live close enough where they can commute to their alma maters games, but only if good. So Haslam, Ergen and Thunder better realize that if they don't make this Gruden hire it affects them financially too.

I totally agree.. If he's not coming he should make it public so the masses here don't lose their minds.. I'm telling u, if we hire a different coach out of the blue, these message boards are gonna get VERY ugly.. I hope it doesn't come to that.

Make no mistake. I believe that Jon Gruden would make the biggest splash in terms of recruiting and publicity that the NCAA has ever seen. I think he would be able to be an X's and O's coach extraordinaire. I just don't think he is coming to UT. Florida had something to do with it), the Vols have ALWAYS managed to lose when they shouldn't more than they have won when they shouldn't. I am afraid that we will lose this one too.

There are a lot of good choices, I hope we can manage to land at least one. But, I am making this thread for those who plan on jumping off the ledge when Chucky (or the boosters) decide it isn't going to work.

If there is a coach announced this week, it's Gruden. Golden doesn't make sense because not only has Miami come under sanctions during his tenure, but he has a losing record as a coach. Not to mention Miami is currently 53rd in recruiting. Hart said in his presser that he wants a coach with integrity and a coach that is a winner. That doesn't resemble Golden at all, even if the sanctions weren't his fault. Hiring Golden will make this fanbase even more angry than it already is. Another coach with a losing record? Really???

And based on what I've read on here, Stoops just got a contract extension last year with a major buyout clause. Not likely IMO.

I agree, the university or Gruden himself needs to kill the rumors now if it isn't going to happen. Then let some time for that to sink in before naming the next coach. Right now I would be very disappointed if anybody but Gruden is annouced without either side's denial of the rumors.

It wont just be the message boards. The students are as convinced its Gruden as we are. Maybe more-so.

Let them announce Strong or Golden without addressing the Gruden stuff and it will get ugly fast for anyone hired.
