Football Scoop hinted that the 4 million for assistants might be the problem. So I looked up Bama.

Alabama Crimson Tide grant coach Nick Saban raise, 2-year extension - ESPN

Saban 5.62 million
Smart 950,000
Nussmeier 590,000
Thompson 355,000
Williams 350,000
Rumph 310,000
Burns 290,000
Groh 280,000
Pruitt 260,000
Stoutland 395,000 (not llised, but I googled it)

3.8 million for assistants.

If that the 4 million for assistant salaries is indeed the issue, then UT will never be able to compete.

I've always had more hope than confidence. I still have 100% hope, but it will not surprise me one bit to learn that the administration found a way to screw it up.

If I find out that we lost Gruden over who hires the secretaries, I will immediately cancel my 10 season tickets.

I'm tired of my university athletics department being a laughing stock while Alabama racks up SEC championships.

If the "talks" never got beyond Gruden's agent and his clients demands, then they would not speak at all. If there was never an offer made, no reason to address it.

The difference is not hard to notice, but evidently the hypothetical outcome is hard for you and a lot to understand. If it would have happened in 48 hours, dude would have been hailed as a prophet and legit insider. However since it didn't, we are here quibbling over what word was exactly said. In the end, it doesn't matter. Anybody can phrase a prediction that is easy to claim victory and doable to backtrack at the same time. My point still stands.

The INSIDERS haven't ran from nothing, all we have is people come blasting on here saying no deal because hyams and a few locals say it so. I expect some insiders to come in hear and set the tone back right before long!!! GO VOLS GET GRUDEN!! I BELIEVE!!!!:rock:

This is what drives me crazy. Why does it have to be UT or Hart didnt get it done when Gruden doesn't come here? It couldn't possibly be that Gruden didn't want the job or that he wasn't the first choice. This is why this fanbase gets exactly what it deserves.

I think you missed my point. I thought Fulmer was a great coach and representative of our university. BUT, Hamilton's handling of the end of the Fulmer era was one of the, if not THE biggest issue that has brought us to where we are today.

State Champs one year with. Couple decent seasons following. I was not a starter on the championship team, and when those seniors left we tapered off a bit. Some of the guys on the championship team went on to play at it and have some connections, however I am not one of them.

If it doesn't happen I'm going to have a hard time believeing it was over that figure and if it was, Hart better hope and pray that it doesn't get out or he will be looking for a new job...

That is what I laugh at. There is zero proof that Gruden was even Hart's #1 choice. No proof that Gruden has even been contacted. Just some random guys on a message board guessing and hoping something sticks so they can be considered an "insider".
