Something is going to have to come out before too long. There is know way the AD wants Gruden's name lingering when they announce a new coach if it's not going to be Gruden. At some point, if it is not going to be Gruden, they will have to leak (somehow?) that he is not in consideration for the job. Imagine the backlash if everyone was expecting Gruden and someone else was announced. They don't want that backlash for a new coach. Therefore, if it's not Gruden, they will want to get that out before long.

That is one thing that does leave me with some hope. They haven't done that.
