QUOTE=RockyTopSC;7770767]I am trying to catch up. I am back in Cleveland. I have a dinner with one family tomorrow and another on Friday. The Friday one may be interesting. I will be with a couple of people that give a load more than me and one gives a ton. I will see what he says but I already know part of it. " I think we need Fulmer back". He never wanted him gone. Btw I ran some info by buro off line. The way he answered gave me even more hope. It was nothing big just the way he responded. Stay strong.
We don't need fulmer back he lost his ability to recruit towards the end of his career. The lack of talent we have is partly his fault. We need to move.on and get behind the new coach[/QUOTE]
Don't disagree with you. It is just the position of some of our big money guys. I think it was time. Still love what he did for us his blood is orange.

I do NOT claim to be "in the know" in any way shape or form. However, I heard something interesting from a friend. His family is very well established in Cleveland (i.e., multiple family members have held state and federal political offices). He says that he has heard Gruden is being offered a stake in the Cleveland Browns franchise from Haslam if he accepts the HC job at Tennessee. This would obviously not be part of the official contract, but if this is true, it sounds like they are working every possible angle.

I don't know. There are legs to this story and both parties are interested, but if he has already signed, it would have been announced and he would be at UT did get started on recruiting. Maybe that will happen tomorrow

The mandatory number of interviews must take place before it can be officially announced. They can be done over the phone. Not a prediction but if that gets taken care of, it might break this weekend.

To me CJG could come in to a program that's at it's lowest I can remember. Fan base is down. Apathy at its worst.

Build it up to the elite program we all know it to be and be a legend among legends.

It's all for his taking. I see no way he loses

And we as fans and alumni win all the way around.

I'm gonna throw a name out there and tell me what you think, sal sunseri

Lol. I'm hearing he'll be retained, but not for DC. Not over yet though. Just hope JG don't leave us at the alter......actually the SS decision is not a deal breaker but benefits both parties possibly.

I hope fans will be realistic. We still have a long way to go talent wise to compete for four quarters.

Indeed, and honestly he should yank some scholarships, if your not on board every practice....your not on board. That said I have much more faith he can turn it around then last two, My only concern is that collegiate football just AINT the NFL....not that NFL players get high marks for maturity, but alot of these kids..are well kids....I think the great College coaches have been part effective second dads...you need patience.... then again being an effective dad does not always mean being cuddly....Bear was likely more of the Red Foreman approach...effective but no hugs...many take a drill sgt approach...hey it works or breaks em one way or another... ..Holtz was more understanding and loved dad maybe a hug in there...., and then there's Spurrier who got what he needed from them immediately and left them to a future of PTSD and counciling, like the rabid little league coach...but morals aside I guess that works too.

I'm hoping whatever style he chooses he gets that difference from pro-ball. What I like about him on this are his little "camp" episodes....he is very good at relating to the athletes, they clearly dig his charisma.. I honestly think he's a natural when it comes to this, and regardless of what people say about his lack of recruiting experience....that guy will recruit like crazy just based on that kind of charisma, and the funny yet serious qustioning.... .and i think he may have a unique connection with the kids at recruit level without being a push over...that allows them to stay kids and not grow up....*cough*.....like some coaches.

But you know sooner or later some promising athlete will do something bone headed...and I wonder where his temper rates.........

So this Dino Costa guy from New York City is the first to publicly say Gruden will be the coach?

Is he reliable?
