So you really don't know much about the Gruden rumors?

No one within the ad knows anything concrete about Gruden. Maybe its being kept secret, i have no clue. I would love to see gruden here, the recruiting would be off the charts. Would like to see if he can be successful at this level. The main red flag i see with Gruden, is the complete control he wants, he will not get that here at this point and time.

Don't forget Shannon for DC too. I just hope people don't confuse his intrigue with it being a done deal. I don't care too much if the process takes awhile, but only if they make a worthy hire.

People who were actual insiders and knew something said there was absolutely nothing on Shannon. The Gruden thing is actually possible, not very likely, but possible.

I think Randy Shannon being a linebacker coach at TCU now pretty much proves that was completely false.

90% of the shannon stuff came from boosters.

When you say complete control, do you mean the academic side of things?

Do you think it is realistic that Gruden could come here?

Thanks for the info.

The Gruden stuff actually has legs to it tho. Gruden has spoke with Manning, players, and other coaches about UT. I 100% believe there was no contact between Shannon and UT and Shannon was never even considered. I don't think that is the case at all with Gruden.

Shannon was contacted by a booster or two, but that was it. Dooley never spoke with him.

Hey i hope we get Gruden. Hart is a slick slick man if Gruden is the next coach.

Oh I do too, but I don't believe its happening either lol. I totally agree with you. It makes absolutely no sense for Gruden to not already be the head coach if a deal is already in place and he accepted. None. If I'm not mistaken, Meyer was hired before November 21.

If Stoops is serious about taking a look at TN, I would rather have him than anyone else. JMO

I think Stoops would be great here too, but I don't know how realistic that is. My biggest concern is his recruiting has been average for a program like Oklahoma. He hasn't had a top 10 class since 2010 and they are ranked behind us right now in recruiting lol. That kind of worries me.

Mora Jr seems like a awfully big risk ATP. One season of success in the Pac 12 doesn't mean he would be a stud in the SEC.

That is a concern for me. One year could be a fluke.

However, this year has been awfully impressive. If he was to keep that up here, it would be a very good hire. I don't know how good of a recruiter he is though.

I don't know who he would want as OC. I wonder if he would bring Noel Mazzone with him. Not sure that I would really like that style of offense.

Just about any coach is a risk. Even Gruden has never coached in college.

So you don't know anything about negotiations with Gruden, but you do know he wants complete control? Skeet, are you attempting to lead VN astray?

Look at Dennis Erickson's first year back at Arizona State, awfully similar.

I am highly skeptical of Golden or Mora Jr. I don't think I would feel too good about either.

I agree on Golden. Not sure what people see in him that makes them believe he would be a championship level coach here.

I like Mora Jr., but there is some question marks. I would be okay with him, but there are a few concerns I have.

Honestly it's getting to the point that if Gruden isn't announced as the next coach, the fanbase is going to be disappointed. The AD needs to either put up or shut all this talk down. Otherwise it will continue to build up to a fever pitch.

Double down on that statement. As much as a majority of this forum wants Gruden - one thing remains - he is not a proven college head coach. Mora, IMO, the minute Washington feels Sark is no longer the man, Mora would bolt to the Huskies.

The main positive I see with Gruden is recruiting. UT spends the most in the SEC, and probably the country on recruiting. I can't help but think that having the Gruden name as head coach would have more kids contacting us rather than us contacting and visiting them. Especially if he's successful.

Its been common knowledge for years Gruden wants complete control at his next stop. With Cheek here that will not happen. Like ive said, Maybe gruden relaxed his demands, i dont know. I have no idea whats going on with Gruden. I do know Hart has plans of speaking with other coaches not named Gruden.

The contract for MNF may make sense with respect to a delayed announcement. Its not like Gruden is unfettered with present contractual obligations.
