I would want to announce the hire at the best time to give us the best recruiting advantage.
11-25-12 thru 02-02-13 Contact Period
Six in-person off-campus contacts per prospective student-athlete shall be permitted during this time period with not more than one permitted in any one calendar week.
(1) 12-16-12 Quiet Period
My take on all the information/misinformation.... I have no sources but just trying to connect the dots. Hope I'm right. I was really stressing over it the last couple of days but it kinda makes sense to me now and all of the OGs info is falling into place.
Big $$ made this happen. It's a done deal. All of the reports of offers being made, negotiations going on, other coaches being in the mix. All of it is to give the impression that nothing was done before Dooley was fired. The AD is trying to make everyone believe that they really are doing a "search", then when the announcement is made, Hart can say "we conducted our search and Jon Gruden was the best fit". It all just makes to much sense.
Gruden!!

Gruden!!
I think an argument could be made that it goes a step further. Rumors are that Hart would quit if he didn't have the authority that he felt that he had, and that would leave the AD in even more of a mess. Perhaps the deal is done, but the big money people are trying to give him the leeway that he feels like he needs to review the situation. Then, when he has a list, they all get together and point out that Gruden is the best on that list. Then, done deal and all are happy. Maybe?
Sorry, don't mean to misrepresent so I'll clarify. TB has been goin against the grain...today. However, he took a text over the phone stating that his source just said that it wasn't Gruden that signed the MOU...but it was LaMonte. Having said that, he then went on to justify his stance by saying "see, it's not Gruden. He didn't sign anything. It was his agent."
At that point, it was a silly argument for him because his agent has to be a "power of attorney" or the equivalent of...to bind Gruden to agreements with his blessing. My attorney does that for me all the time.
Earlier i was textin with one hand because I had my daughter in the other...so I couldn't be very descriptive and thorough.
My apologies.
I remember your last "Defensive" post. I enjoyed it.
