It is interesting you mentioned this. Tonight I was having this exact conversation about this with my neighbor, an Auburn grad.

My neighbor made a good point. Franklin has it made at Vanderbilt, he looks like a rock star, has the program going in the right direction and has job security forever. You have to give credit to Franklin, he has played the schedule he had better than any other Vandy coach in recent memory. No doubt that was helped by Auburn and UT being WAY down with Mizzou playing without their star QB.

On the other hand it is a balancing test. Franklin can stay at Vandy for as long as he wants and be a legend, or he can risk it all and actually have the resources and the talent to be expected to beat the big boys by going to a school like Arkansas. My wager is that Franklin stays for a few more years, tries to build a better resume and leverage that success for a huge gig somewhere. That has a massive downside though, with so many SEC coaching changes. A couple programs are poised to make massive upgrades: it will be up to Franklin to prove if he is really this good, or if he is just being benefited by the teams he has played being way down.

For those that think a top 15 recruiting class is stellar, it is. But it isn't NSD yet. Even if he gets a top 15 class, his talent level when averaged with the previous three classes will still be near the bottom of the SEC meaning continued drastic improvement is unlikely.

Dude he's at Vandy a top 25 class is a massive achievement

This made me laugh. Figured i would share.

OK UT fans I have some inside information about Saturday's game and our new coach. The KY game has been moved to 8PM primetime. At halftime, regardless of the score, both teams will exit the field not to return. Every light in the Knoxville Metro area will be turned off. Suddenly a lone spot light shines toward the heavens. A glimpse of a golden mane is seen from 500 feet in the air. As the light centers upon the anomoly, Jon Gruden's face appears on the Jumbo Tron. Could it possibly the same Gruden in the air. Alas, YES. Shirtless and riding a winged steed he lands gracefully upon the fifty yard line for all the world to see. Instead of a second half, Gruden will then proceed to kill, with his bare hands: a Wildcat; a Commodore; 3 tigers; 2 bulldogs; a gator; a farmer (aggie); a pig; a rebel (sorry Maryville); a chicken; and an elephant. Dripping in sweat and weary from battle Mr. Gruden kneels on the fifty yard line while Dave Hart presents him with a lifetime contract written in Peyton Mannings blood. You are welcome East Tennessee!

Not really good or bad.
Ok let's try it this way.

I heard the 1st day The Gru can take a coaching job is November 30, 2012 or he would lose the last lump sum of his Tampa buy out.

Anyone else hear that?

Wow I thought that was already over. It was the case last year but not sure. His buyout at Tampa was definitely tied to not taking a coaching job. Just thought that was over.
