Imo, this is the key to TB. If all the rumors are true about him not wanting to watch film like a QB should, he will not even see the field under JG. JG is a film fanatic, and will demand it of his QB, whoever that may be.

Tyler has the perfect poison. Cocky, confident, not used to losing. That can be a great thing to have in some cases when you have confidence in the program and you have momentum. Without that - its a disaster (see Vanderbilt game). IMO - immaturity has allowed him to just blow off Dooley because he doesnt respect him.
Enter Gruden. Theres just no way Bray, with any common sense, has the same demeanor with Gruden. (Just google/look at the pictures on the internet betweeen Dooley and Bray talking. Bray doesnt have a good poker face. It just screams "I dont like you. I cant stand this guy.") This new dynamic, if Tyler is smart, will work out for everyone. Tyler will learn, soak it up, and get put into the NFL with a better resume after getting to hit the restart button. If not, itll be "exit stage right", I will work with Worley or from what I understand is the best 'student of the game' in Peterman.

That doesnt pay the staffs salary if numbers are correct, right?

That's 6 a year, and over the current budget.

If you factor in the new espn money, we really should only be running a deficit for 2-3 years.

So the portion that the boosters will have to chip in (after DDs buyout), will not be as high as it seems.

We should be able to start building reserves back by 2015.

With what Boro, Lex, and Jay have brought today combined with Hubbs and Kaplan, if you can't see the writing on the wall, there is no hope for you.

I hope all the talk about Peterman's abilities (on & off field) are true. Nothing against Worley but I'd like to see Peterman win the job next year if it's available. He'd have four years to be the starter but the main reason I hope he wins it is bc of his mobility. Just makes the offense more dangerous.

I feel the same way. Let him take his bumps next season with that brutal schedule and maybe finally beat a ranked team. Its been forever.

Maybe so but everything thats been said about Peterman and his intelligence and leadership makes him a much better option to run Gruden's offense. His offense is not supposed to be easy to learn.

Sometimes the teacher has a lot to do with how the easy things are for the student to learn.

@philkaplan: Cheek: For the next 3 years, money the athletics department has contributed to the campus will be reinvested in the athletics department.

@philkaplan: Cheek: I know that winning championships and competing at the highest level lifts the national profile of the University of Tennessee.

The dominoes keep falling right before our eyes.

Freaking amazing.

Hmm...

It's over. Pack it in Grudenville.
A mod at one of their sites had this to say in reply to one of their "BIG" insiders..

Presser at 4?

Others may have forgot all of your "sources" and "scoop" that Nutt would be fired about 20 times before it actually happened. Others may have forgot your kamikaze attempt at a video with Dale. Others may have forgot why you were banned from this site.

I have not...

Insider did not reply...:eek:lol:

Cheek freeing up 6 million a year isn't going to get Gruden if he wants 5 mill a year and 4 mill for assistants.

5 mill + 4mill = 9mill a year

Hubbs now says Cheek has committed 18 million to the AD over the next 3 years.

Good sign....even Hart talked about this in his last presser and to me shows that they are serious about paying some coin on the next hire.

Is it safe to assume that this means that the university is going after a big name?

No.

It is, however, safe to assume that Jon Gruden is our new head coach.

I bet it will be "officially" leaked to Schefter/Mortensen/Schad first. ESPN likes to have a monopoly on those sorts of things, and if they are going to lose Gruden, they DAMN sure want to be able to "break" the news.

I think your're right. If some other media get a hold of it it may cause ESPN to break it before they want to in order for them to capitalize on the story.

$6 Million a year, interesting.
Sounds to me like Hart told Cheek..."Look, for years we donated bug money to the University....more than any other SEC team. We now need some of that investment to flow back in the other direction. A loan if you will, until we can get the right coach in here and an energized fanbase."
