We will all support the new coach whoever it may be.. Just afraid we're building this cat up way too much that anything else would seem like a mediocre choice..

Way too much smoke for it not to be real. Now, nothing is 100% until he's introduced by Hart and walks across the stage but I believe the main handful of "Grudenites" (Oldvol, Boro Vol, DTO, Jay Vols, etc...) aren't making this all up, they're not trolling for fun. They have been told (mostly from the booster side) that it's happening and been that way for weeks.

Then you add in all the guys on VQ saying the same thing. Stuff said/tweeted by Chris Mortensen, Jason La Canfora, Bruce Feldman and others. I'm choosing to believe that the boosters come through with the $, Dave Hart doesn't screw it up and Gruden will be the new HC. It might not happen, things can change quickly, as we all know from following recruiting. But as of right now, I'm a believer.

I understand you and others not believing, that probably makes the most sense to be honest. Either way, we'll all find out sometime in the next few weeks.

i think OCI belongs on that list to hes been pushing Gruden pretty hard. And while i hope gruden is our coach next year, i think that alot of this could be a smoke screen.

There are others too, probably left off many more.

I think smokescreens are much more likely to come from the AD, not boosters. JMO

I hear ya Ron and I can see what your saying and I hope it does work out. One thing for sure that you said things change in a hurry in this business so we will hope, wait, and see.

At this point in Novmember, recruits are all in limbo except our hardcore commits. This includes noncommits. Fooley got stone, Rodgers, and hunter in 2 weeks. We'd pull a top 5 class with gruden.

There's no way TN pulls a top 5 class this year, unless they kick a bunch of recruits to the side for higher ranked ones. There's not enough spots left to pick up enough points

Can anyone please summarize info/rumours coming from sources outside Tennessee on Gruden. It seems to me that all the real promising info that I've seen is coming from people with an interest in seeing this (ie, Gruden as HC) come true. If there is so much actual smoke I would think that we'd hear more in the national news.
So, I am skeptical. Believe me though, I want to be wrong and would love to be convinced.

La Canfora (CBS sports), Mortensen, and Feldman all have stated that his interest in the college game is real and that he has been contacting coaches regarding the possibility of coaching at that level. Also seems he is doing his research on what it would take to be successful with regards to recruiting.

I wonder if Lane Kiffin will screw us again - if he loses again he could very well get canned at USCw - no doubt USCw is a big boy job in a big boy city - do you think we get left at the altar if the USCw job comes open?
