Wait a minute.... You said earlier that you did not think Hart was as committed as he would like us to think...

I think it spoke a lot, and I keep reiterating this on this site, that he didn't have to talk about the academic strifes and issues that are much deeper than W/L record. He is putting himself out there to say, yes there is problems bigger than Dooley and they will be fixed. But I also think he is taking a long hard look at the program, and it truly is in a cross roads.

I'm not questioning the academic issues, crossroads, etc... I was referring to the level of commitment you said Hart was lacking....

I was wondering if he is questioning his commitment to the university. None of us know behind close doors whats happening with these bigger issues at hand. I hope he doesn't let Cheek beat him out. Some suggest if anything, today was a gut check for Cheek, since Hart brought up many issues some of us on here had mentioned and plenty of reporters that follow the Vols closely.

Does this ring true? Aubs guy with ties to UT boosters relayed that boosters have said that AD reporting to the Chancellor is not working for UT either. Not having control of the Thornton Center is apparently hurting. Also, UT also has discontinued majors common to athletes who may struggle in the classroom, forcing most athletes to be academically challenged. That hurts recruiting. As of right now, the boosters want some big changes made very quickly.

Spot on. Your guy knows some stuff.

I dont believe he was. I think he was just putting rumors to rest that have been circulating for quite some time. There have been several letters and emails sent to Cheek / Hart about these issues and he was just clearing the air. This has also been concerns in previous coaching searches (info from Skeeter) and it was a way to let everyone know how serious he was about landing the right coach for the program. You yourself have seen all of the discussions regarding this with the BOT meeting. In a few posts earlier with KoachKletus, you stated that you thought Hart would do what it took to get this right. That is what kind of confused me in your earlier and now last post.

I have shared everything worthwhile that he has posted on aubs board. He also had good info on timing of Dooley release and he continues to say that Gruden is a real possibility for UT. The guy has been pretty spot on so far.

I think Hart was putting all of the issues out in the open and the "crossroads" are the current problems with Cheek and others within the administration. He obviously can't badmouth his boss Cheek publicly, but he can give us all of the information for the general public and the fans to make our own decision.

@DanHellie: Skins DB coach Raheem Morris told me he doesn’t know anything about Jon Gruden’s plans but Gruden would win every year at UT #Tennessee

@wesrucker247: RT @DanHellie: Raheem Morris wouldn't confirm/deny report he’d been contacted by Gruden to gauge interest in joining him in college ranks.

Gruden isn't coming. Never has never will. He is an NFL man all the way. Now bring me Strong, Taggart, or Mora, Jr.

College has surpassed NFL in popularity and become a big time business. There is more potential stability in college than NFL. NFL coaches are taking notice of the college game and its not as crazy to think gruden would make the jump as it was yrs ago

College is no where close to the NFLs popularity.

Then why does MNF by itself have a bigger contract than all college football football conference deals combined?

College football is the king in the southeast, but in the rest of the country, the NFL is still the king.

Correct me if I'm wrong (probably so) but I don't think an interim HC can make hire/fire decisions. . . seems like that's something that should be left up to the new coach.
