VolQuest.com - Dooley era ends at Tennessee

"Dooley era ends at Tennessee"

After 36 football games and a 15-21 record, the Derek Dooley era at Tennessee has officially come to an end.

The 44-year-old Dooley was dismissed Sunday morning by vice chancellor and director of athletics Dave Hart on the heels of the Vols' 41-18 loss at Vanderbilt, a game that marked Dooley's final appearance as head coach at the University of Tennessee.

UT officials confirmed the news this morning to VolQuest.com, and a press conference to discuss the move is expected to take place later this afternoon.

It's official. The CDD era is over at UT. Hubbs & Brice just put the story up on VQ.

This is the first time i heard this and I thought this was interesting regarding Devrin Young and his personal issues. Buck Fitzgerald said

I think it is fair to say that Devin's "issue" was caused by staff/coaches crossing the line. No kid should have to go through what he has. He deserves more.

As for Devrin, it seems that some on the staff have lost track of how you are to speak to young men. Devrin should be applauded for showing restraint. He is fine and moving forward. But the respect factor for the kids needs to be much higher over there. And Young deserves it as much as the next guy.

JMO, but I highly doubt Mora would leave UCLA in a lurch after only one year. I think it is more likely that he would use this to secure himself a raise from UCLA. But a Mora hire would get me fired up and I'd be hopeful for the team's future.

As I said, though, I think it's more likely Mora will coach here than Gruden. I review Gruden as the most remote of possibilities, although he's the guy I want the most (duh).
