Stoops might be tired of saying 10 wins isn't enough. I agree with the poster earlier who compared it to Spurrier's situation Fla.

One of the guys on WBIR Sports Talk just said that it's written into Les Mile's contract that he has to be the highest paid coach in the SEC..I did not know this.

Oh for the record....I heard that his wife and kids were in fact in Knoxville last week... I do not believe it was related to the job search though (if they were actually here)...

I realize we are "not suppose" to post this part as other members get in a tizzy about it, but that is what I was told.... Let me say though if you flame me on the in Knoxville part again I am going to flame back this time... :salute:

Not sure if it's been stated but most of the coaches being named have a buyout we would have to pay. I don't know the numbers but if we had to pay strong, Patterson, etc. 3 to 3.5 mill plus a 2 mill or so buyout I'm not sure any of those guys are worth it. Let's just pay Gruden and be done with it.

Good for les........As soon as we hire Gruden, he will get a raise without doing anything except sitting there and watching his team become irrelevant

For some reason I thought it was in Stoops and Miles contract that the had to be the highest paid coaches in if they won a National Championship...:hi:


In other words.. If you win a NC this year the university would have to give you a raise next year to make you the highest paid coach...

I could be wrong about all of that though..:salute:

Bad for LSU if we hire the Gruden for 6M as some have reported. Wonder if their AD is watching all these potential hires thinking "Wonder what this off season gonna cost me? "?

It just doesn't make any sense because every coach in the SEC could make similar arrangements with their coaches.

So without even trying we could have coaches making trillions a year in base salary.

There has to be a cap because no legal counsel would ever allow a client to agree to such a thing without limits.

Just spitballing, but maybe Miles's base pay is higher than Saban's, but Saban has higher reward package, which makes Saban paid the highest. I have no clue; just speculating.

UCLA was 6-7 last season, 6-8 counting their bowl game. And again, got owned by USC. This season, in Moras first year they are 9-2. Point being, he's not just getting praise for beating USC, he has totally turned that program around. The reason beating a 6-3 USC team is huge is because that same team killed them last season and 12 of the last 13.
