Yea... I may have said that wrong....... Sorry....:hi:

I meant that others I read had me convinced that that it would after UK no matter what happened at the Vandy game.... Even though I had been hearing Vandy the whole time.....

No biggie either way, I am just wondering....:hi:

gotcha buddy

Well if it's Gruden and the reports of him wanting to finish MNF it would be one month to the day before anything would be announced.. That's a long time for the AD and Boosters not to say anything

There can be an announcement and he can still finish MNF.

That me be counter to what they wanted to do, but their hand may be forced at this point.

Dooley = Bill battle II imho...look at all the simularities...now if Dooley does as Bill, he will be wealthy for life and get out of coaching all together

Dooley didn't have the advantage of only being a local newspaper that most people only got Sunday. People did t know what was up. Twitter, talk radio, msg boards, cell phone cams, this thing turns into a mixture of bonaroo meets thunderdome.

Not sure what you mean bye have heard from several people the decision to leave now was Dooleys and the AD's mutual decision. He is as finished with it as we are with him. Wish him luck, now bye.

Bcarter, I know you are high on Bray, but I can't see a 1st-2nd round grade after last night. Do you think he leaves regardless just due to being fed up with it all?

Good point.

I guess I just meant that we have seen first hand what a lame duck coaching situation can lead to.

While I could never fathom losing to vu or uk, Wyoming was a special kind of bad that year.

Yes they were and so was our offense. If I recall, the scored 13 points and their one TD was an INT return. If we had any offense that year we could have won 8 games. Just like this year with defense.

From The Bleacher Report Nov 17...

Tennessee Volunteers head football coach Derek Dooley has been on an increasingly warm seat in recent weeks. The team has lost five of its last six games and lost each of the six SEC games it has played this season.

Tennessee has been awful in that regard this season, and it's likely going to cost Dooley his job. Furthermore, with Howard Eskin of Philadelphia's Sports Talk WIP claiming that Jon Gruden is looking to return to coaching, Tennessee could strike gold this offseason.

The reason Gruden is a great fit in Tennessee is because he would likely run a version of Oregon's spread-option offense.

After Gruden was fired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009, he spent a week with Chip Kelly in Florida learning the spread-option offense. We've all seen how effective the Ducks have been with their offense, and it should be no different for Gruden in the SEC

There's some great info on Chip Kelly's take on how the Spread-Option works from a technical sense. i found the story pretty interesting.

Unless Gruden is contractually obligated to finish the MNF broadcasts, I don't see how he or ESPN would see the benefit in him leaving his new employer hanging for this. It's critical to get in as early as possible, in order to assemble the staff and recruiting. That includes his new staff having to evaluate prospects. That only gives him 2mos to do all of this and hit the recruiting trail and attempt to salvage this class. They can have Jaws cover his last few broadcasts.
