Hiring Golden over Gruden would be like hiring Dooley out of LaTech over GPatterson, BKelly and KSumlin. Oh wait, we did go there, didn't we? Thanks again, Hammy.

Jon Gruden is the current face of American Football. Period.

It cannot be said enough. The mothers of these recruits couldn't pick Al Golden out of a lineup even if he was the only male standing there. Ditto for most coaches, NFL or college.

But you better believe that they know Gruden's face. Anybody with a 17 year old football player for a son knows his face, instantly.

Again, I am not saying that he will recruit a class full of nothing but 5 stars, but my money says that he will get who he wants more often than not.

Going in for take out Chinese. Over/Under on what post we'll be on by the time I get back. 7900. I'll take the over.

That sounds so good. I had thought about it and decided I'd go a bit healthier with tomato soup and garlic cheese bread. It was delicious and hit the spot but man... I eat chinese at least once a week. Sometimes twice. I only like a couple of the dishes but the stuff I like, I love. Sesame Chicken, General Tso, Honey Chicken, Sweet and sour chicken, teriyaki/skewered chicken on a stick, crab ragoons and white rice... that's about the extent of what I eat but I love it.

100%. I'm done fighting it.

This for me too, I am all in for Gruden. Until it is announced one way or the other, I am not even wiling to think about any other name. Not 100% sure he is coming, but 100% invested in him being the next coach until I hear something ANNOUNCED otherwise.

What will be "telling" to me as far as our insiders that have far better contacts than I (if right) is after the Vandy game. I have a hard time seeing us winning this game.

If we lose at Vandy and Dooley is fired on Monday what in your opinion should we read into that?

Seems to me the entire storyline that is out there and we are buying in to hinges on Dooley completing the regular season regardless, does it not?

I know it's as alma mater but I'm not convinced guys like him and Fitzgerald will stay forever just because it's their alma mater. Gundy blew what was probably his only shot of going undefeated by losing to Iowa State. The fact that he was that close at Oklahoma State, he has potential to build a dynasty at a better program. Coming off a 12-1 season, his class ranked 32nd. It's currently 27th this season. Dooley is awful and despite having a losing record last season and currently having a losing record this season, the class finished 17th and it's currently sitting at 22nd. Gundy's job would be a lot easier at a big time program. 12-1 at Tennessee would get you a top 5 recruiting class.

If they're loyal enough to stay, good for them. I just think at some point you look at bigger programs that coming knocking. If Texas/USC open up and they get a phone call, I highly doubt they say no. I'm not convinced they'd say no to us, Auburn or Arkansas for the right price. jmo

One of my close friends went to OSU. I pick at him all the time about Gundy in a different shade of orange. His response is always "Uncle T-Boone will never allow that to happen."

You are right. It is all about stature. A guy like Golden would get lost in the crowd of coaches that rotate through a recruit's life. Only the Sabans, etc. stand out.

Gruden would immediately stand above them all IMO or at the very least, he would stand toe to toe with any college coach in the coutry.

That's what the Grudenville board has been saying.

Terrible performances have moved the timetable up. IMO.

At this point, there is no reason to deviate from the plan. He would have been fired after the Mizzou debacle if he was going to be fired early IMO.

Regardless of the Vandy result, I think he finishes against Kentucky unless there is another coach ready to be announced.

If he is fired after Vandy it will mean one of two things imo: either Gruden's timeline will be earlier than expected or Gruden is not the name for UT. And I hope full sail that it is the first of the two...

I can see Golden getting arrested for trespassing at a school for impersonating a coach.
