Pete Carrol I don't see coming, Peterson would be a huge hire, but I don't think he has any interest leaving Boise. We may wait til the NFL season is over and go that route. Have no idea what Hart would do....

No way in hell Peterson ever leaves Boise.

That would be like Fulmer leaving UT to coach on the west coast somewhere in his prime.

One guy I think we can maybe lure away is Stoops.

Huge maybe.

I just don't get it. Babyavi comes out and says it's going to be a HUGE hire and then proceeds to not even menton Gruden. After looking at his list, it's filled with second tier guys and a proverbial mention of "nfl coordinators"................. What gives. Either it's going to be huge or not?? Do you have more information than you can't post Babyavi? If so, can you give us a simple yes or no to that question?? Thanks to all the insiders for their perspectives and for taking the time to post here.

We all want a home run hire but with where we are as a fanbase whoever the new coach is be should experience am overwhelming VolNation.com

Excellent idea. Hopefully it works out.

If the powers at be really feel that candidate A is more sexy but candidate B is the better fit then now is the time that a choice for B would still be widely accepted.

As long as people don't have this JG or bust mentality this hire will be widely accepted regardless who it ends up being IMO.

What the hell?

No offense to anyone here, but I wouldn't put any stock into what Babyavi says. Truth is truth.

There are only 2 or 3 huge hires we could possibly get.

Gruden and Stoops are the most likely of the two.

Everyone else is meh.

Peterson outcoached one of those and would likely outcoach the other. Peterson all the way.

My thinking here is the history along with logic says the silence means nothing in regards to a deal being done with gruden.

It seems to be a huge reason posters believe this is happening.

I don't believe JG will be our next coach but I darn sure acknowledge its possible. That is why I am following this thread so closely.

I turn 51 next month and have lived in the Knoxville area and have been a Vol fan as long as I can remember. Dickey, Battle, Majors, Fulmer, Kiffin and now Dooley have led my Vols to the battlefield. During this time I have never seen our program at such a difficult crossroad that the Dooley era has brought us.

Jim Haslam played for Neyland on the 1951 NC team, he turns 82 this year (December 13th) I find it hard to believe that this man who has loved and supported the university all these years wants to go to his grave not doing everything in his power to right the sunkin football ship.

Thunder Thorton has been a great supporter for UTAD over the years and the current product on the field is not going to result in big donations without change in the near future.

None of the above even touches some of the info I have been privledged to obtain. It is my understanding that the piss poor coaching hires are no more and not only is a homerun hire wanted it is also needed to stop the massive leak that the program is having for lack of revenue from the football program.

So let's recap:

Patterson and Arkansas are in negotiations.

UK wants to drive a truck load of money to Bobby Petrino's house.

Malzahn is waiting on a decision from Auburn.

Charlie Strong, the one candidate everyone seems to think is the most realistic to come here, just got hammered by a bad Syracuse team.

....and our AD apparently has his own thumb up his ass.

Beautiful. Kill me now.

UK isnt hiring Petrino. Petrino's Dad made a cooment his son would be interested and took off from there. Doubt Petrino is even on Barnharts list.

What is wrong with the dooley lovers they must like losing every week and year. They are calling in on sports talk. They must be high on somthing.

Gotta remember that a certain percentage of the population are masochists who thrive on their own pain and suffering.

Agree. When he turned down UCLA I knew he wasn't leaving Boise for anywhere. Took him off my list cause is just isn't possible.

Maybe, but we should offer him anyway. UCLAs offer was not in the 4-5mm range. Make this offer and see what he says. The man is a winner and is a perfect fit for our recruiting troubles.

Why would he not be on their list??? UK has proven they will hire any coach with a past (see Cal).

I don't doubt anything you are saying here but all the money in world doesn't insure Gruden. It does insure a bigtime hire but it doesn't make him come here.

Are you saying your info is higher than Haslam and Thorton??

There isn't any higher booster is there?
