It seems today served mainly to move the money to AD control (if I understood)... there was a post about by Hubbs that said Cheek now has a better understanding about the importance of the Ath Dept.

Most believe this was a good sign, some believe it meant little..

How can a chancellor at a school of UT's magnitude not know how much the athletic department (ie football, duh) means to the entire institution? How?

Here ya go Coasty...

On the fourth day of Christmas our new coach sent to me
4 on defense that could stop Maryville High
a spider 3 Y banana
2 top 5 recruiting classes
And a signed Gruden contract underneath the tree.

Most of the talk about the significance of the meeting is between 180 and 190. We should have a timeline thread so that we can keep track of points that have been discussed to go with the cliff notes. With reference pages.

Agree that the next hire has to be a HR.

I see it a little diferent. I believe that UT has been on a mediocre to consitantly bad football team for 8-10 years. Sure we got the SEC championship a few times, but that was because the teams that drubbed us by 30 points in the season had a few e'ff ups along the way.

Things were more stable with Fulmer, and he had us on a rollercoaster. The kiffin/dooley time has made it worse. If we get another slacker coach, I think we will more or less waste another 3-5 years of staying in neutral or reverse. Then our next hire would have to try and get us up to par within 3-5 years. I mean, IMHO, it would only take one more screw up hire to literally set us back even further.

Next coach has got to be a homerun hire.
