I may be 100% wrong, but when I think of a homerun hire, I don't think about Charlie Strong. If UT decides to get another head coach, and if they E'ff it up and get a lousy coach, UT could be mediocre or worse for the next 15-20 years, IMO.

Jmo but I think 15-20 years is being a bit dramatic, and I know a few things about being dramatic. Ain't that right Freak :)

Anyhow I thing Strong would be a very solid hire. Hope it's Gruden, but realistically, there are quite a few coaches that could return UT to prominence.

I see it a little diferent. I believe that UT has been on a mediocre to consitantly bad football team for 8-10 years. Sure we got the SEC championship a few times, but that was because the teams that drubbed us by 30 points in the season had a few e'ff ups along the way.

Things were more stable with Fulmer, and he had us on a rollercoaster. The kiffin/dooley time has made it worse. If we get another slacker coach, I think we will more or less waste another 3-5 years of staying in neutral or reverse. Then our next hire would have to try and get us up to par within 3-5 years. I mean, IMHO, it would only take one more screw up hire to literally set us back even further.

Next coach has got to be a homerun hire.
