They are IMO. In terms of money they darn sure are and that may be his point

agreed, but I think we should still approach this cautionusly. I just do not want us to get a fantastic coach that isn't Gruden, and everyone be down in the dumps. Gruden would be fantastic but we also need to remain open minded. That being said, I still believe in Gruden 2012...

I dont claim to be an insider and dont want to be. There are a lot of folks that have info from different sources. With that being said after todays conversations with friends I believe that Charlie Strong will be the next head coach at TN. Not to pour water on the Gruden thing but it is just a lot easier coaching in the NFL dealing with players. The move today by the BOT is a sign in the right direction, but this is a damn mess. In the end I do believe that Gruden is an NFL guy and there are some good openings coming up soon.


I'm hopeful but not optimistic.

If Derek loses one more, is he gone? I know Gruden is out and Kirby has moved down. So who are the top 2-3 choices at this point? Strong in the mix you think?

may not even take a loss.. Strong is consideration but there is no top 2-3 yet. decision had not been made to pursue so not a lot of checking has happened tot his point. just with the rock star

Gruden is the hire we all clamor for........after that Strong is one hot commodity in coaching. He will be successful, yes he is not in a great conference at this time, but He considered a solid candidate for a big school. Better keep an eye on USC because they are going to fire Kiffin.

I mean though it makes sense that TN would do something soon if Dooley was out. Several other schools are looking for a coach. And I am sure there lists look a lot like ours. If UT wants to get a good coach the better HTHU. None will be left if Gru falls through

A "home run" is a guy that puts stars in the recruits eyes, someone who has won an NC or has clearly shown that he possesses the abilities to do so (Meyer, Saban). Patterson has been coaching in a non AQ conference for most of his career and judging by rankings, doesn't seem to be a great recruiter. Strong is barely beating teams in by far the worst AQ conference in the land. They would be good hires and I would be happy with either, but "home runs" usually don't come with question marks like that.

SIAP, as I'm catching up. I have seen a lot of people essentially post that this would be the first time we have ever been 0-6 in the SEC, when we were 0-6 LAST SEASON. It's as if everyone has blocked last year's 1-7 campaign out of their memory to deal with the trauma. Being 0-6 before the Vandy game is nothing new for us.

If Kiffin gets let go by USC, I would pay $ to see him go to UK. I'd buy season tix. He wont get good HC job yet so that may be the type of job he's get. Would. be. hilarious.
