Official Jon Gruden Thread VI

Dude I hope you're being serious. All these one word and one sentence post just sound like you're looking for likes and responses.

Because that's what he's looking for. OCI comes, drops a nondescript 'soon' and then goes away. He's Effing with this thread majorly.

Also not true. The Vice Chancellor for Development is still under the Chancellor's office . . . .

Yes, but he now has someone keeping him accountable. That is the big thing, Cheek is no longer the be all and end all, controlling all aspects. He now controls administration and someone else has the money. The basic ideal of political checks and balances...

Are we going to walk soon enough to matter in this coaching search or will they hav I take our word for it that academic change is coming?

The academic issues are mainly letting kids in the meet SEC requirements. That doesn't necessarily have to be in writing. Just agreed to.

That is a good question Bruin... I would think this was a sign of a new direction, and I hope it was seen as a smybol of perhaps future promises made.

I had Gruden at less than 10% chance to be here up until about a week ago. At that juncture, everyone that I've talked with says he isn't coming so I reduced to less than 5% chance. He is an NFL guy and that is where folks see him going.

this amendment does not address the academic requirements that are the issues between the athletic and academic sides. the BOT meeting had nothing on agenda, to my knowledge, that would address any of that.

those issues are still present. Those issues have built up over 10 years. removing Cheek is only a start to resolving them and it might take years to get where they need to be

Not true. From my understanding the ammendment today did not change Dave Hart's boss at all. It simply formally changed the reporting structure for the AD development office from the foundation to the VC for Development and they'd been operating under that assumption already.

Hart still works for Cheek and will until he's something other than a Vice Chancellor.

Not trying to pick a fight, but it's not like they would broadcast this kind of change just so Volnation "Grudes" would feel better. (i.e. putting Cheek in his place). More than likely the normal fan wouldn't notice a difference and would think nothing has changed.

It would be very easy for Cheek to have been put in his place prior to this meeting. I believe there is a good chance he already has. Yes there could have been resistance initially (and probably was). Cheek didn't ascend to his position by being a pushover.

In the end, big money talks........... always has and always will.
