'13 AL LB Zac Cunningham

Declared one of the state's best high school players by recruiting analysts and his coach.

Upgraded to a 4-star on Scout.

Picked up four BCS offers nationwide since his tape has been released.

Sorry, but I'll take him. It'll be interesting to see what Alabama does with him this weekend.

It doesn't matter if we would take him or not. He's not coming here. He is waiting on an Auburn or Bama offer. Once he gets it, it's over.

It's the truth.

if Pinson wins their 1st playoff game they will play Muscle Shoals (#1 in 5A) in the next round so we will see them play a quality team. Dee Liner plays for that team.

Also u cant look at high school competition as a barameter on how good a player is. There are alot more factors than that. OJ Howard plays the worst competition in the state but he is still considered one of the best athletes in the country.

I said nothing about the player. He might turn out to be great , but bottom line , Pinson plays against weak competition during the regular season.

I've been trying to tell ppl that the cream of the crop always rises to the top.

Who said Pinson didnt play against weaker competition? I was just letting people know that its not the end all for how good a player is. His competition seems to be the most important factor based on some of the comments on here.

I agree with what you are saying , but once again , I said nothing about the player. I also responded to someone else about Pinson. Maybe you should quote someone who actually has said something negative about Zac. No matter what is said , all people can do is speculate about his future playing college ball. Nobody here knows for sure. Either way , I wish him well no matter where he ends up.

I think that this kid and the Jackson kid could be good just on their speed alone.

You can't possibly believe this prospect is good for UT. We need guys that are further along as prospects. He's an athletic prospect that we would have to develop at safety or LB. We need impact guys at both positions.

This kid is similar to Grace.

Grace is a better LB prospect IMO.

I'm not opposed to this kid. I'm not saying he is or is not better than Grace. I think the argument that we need kids who can contribute right away may not be realistic. There is a large learning curve from HS to SEC and UT has some talent in place. We need to get the best prospects we can and let them develop and begin to contribute during their 2nd or 3rd year in the program. We're about to have guys that have been in the program for 4 or 5 years that will be contributing.

LSU signed Kwon Alexander and started him year one(off a major knee injury).

Florida is playing the kid #12(Morrison I think) and quite a few other Freshmen(Bullard and Fowler Jr.).

Georgia plays LB Jordan Jenkins.

Channing Ward is playing well for Ole Miss.

Auburn starts Cassanova McKinzy at LB.

Arkansas is playing Otha Peters and another freshman(31 or 25).

But I guess at UT our standards shouldn't be that high though. We shouldn't go after guys that can help year 1.

You have named a few kids off a few teams and they all signed roughly 25 kids each. It is still the exception, not the norm yo come in, play and even rarer to be a major factor. Should we go after kids with this capability? No question - yes, but even if they do its not a guarantee that they're mentally ready.

McNeill is starting for us. We have had numerous freshmen start over the last few years. What does this have to do with Cunningham?

I'm pretty sure he's just stating that we need some impact players at LB that can come in and contribute quickly.

No matter how you spin it all Tennessee fans should stop beating around the bush and realized the vols are not at an acceptable level. We aren't getting it done in recruiting, about 7-9 teams in the SEC are consistently beating UT for recruits. Recruits just do not want play for a losing squad. UT has the opportunity to win out and finish with a winning record and it could dramatically effect recruiting in a positive way. Support the VOLs.. If you are going to be a fan, be a fan in good times or bad.

bc we have had numerous Freshman start recently because there is no other legit talent.
there is no doubt in my mind McNeil could contribute everywhere in the country but he is one of the few recruits on the defensive side of the ball who are instant impact guys.

those guys at Florida could play and start anywhere (specifically Morrison, Bullard, Humphries and Fowler).

and part of that starts with recruiting guys who are physically ready to compete.

:salute:

We have maybe two HS guys in the front seven of this class(Zanca and Carr) who are physically ready to help this team under this staff. Taking a bunch of projects is like taking jucos all over the place. Won't win anything in the SEC with that.

At Boise State or TCU you can do this but we're Tennessee. I used to redshirting guys like John Henderson and Jerod Mayo. Not this BS and to all the naysayers I will NOT lower my standards.
