Official Jon Gruden Thread VI

If true, Gruden would have to believe two things that history doesn't support: 1) Jerry Jones will follow through and give up control and 2) Jerry Jones will not change his mind down the road and take control back.

I wouldn't believe jones for a second.

Gruden is not going to Dallas, if they fire Garrett (big if), Sean Peyton is big friends with Jerry Jones and will be available Feb. 1st and Jones will pick Peyton over Gruden (by far)...

Gruden to Philly is crazy, Gruden was upset with fans and administration in Tampa, Philly and NY put more pressure on their coaches than anyother fan bases and their admin is about as bad as UT's...

Gruden to the Jets is crazy see Philly post as to why....

Gruden to Cleveland is crazy because it is Cleveland and Haslem would not try to outbid UT for Gruden's services and they fired Gruden's mentor Holgren. If they wanted to get Gruden they would have had a much better chance if they kept Holmgren.

The only NFL possibility I see is potentially San Diego, but their GM is too dumb to fire Norv Turner, plus Turner might have a decent year this year...

Just my thoughts...TIFWIW...

Grudie is currently hotter than a three dollar pistol. Not turning down any advances, and refusing to quash any rumor. He playing it smart!

We have one huge thing in our corner and that is his often spoken love for this place. I'm hoping he wouldn't mess with our emotions the way he would NFL teams.

Source at NFL Network tells me Jerry Jones has been in contact with Gruden and is willing to give him full control over all personnel in order to land him.

Substitute 'Payton' for 'Gruden' and I would almost believe that.

I say almost because Jones would never cede personnel control to anyone.

If he returns to coaching this year, Tennessee seems to be the only logical choice. My biggest fear is not him choosing another Team over us (NFL or college), but him choosing to wait another year to see how more options play out. This would ruin the timing probably for good for him coming to UT....

exactly my thoughts, Jones is a control freak and loves Payton and Payton has been in Dall as multiple times this season to see Jones. Not necessarily to talk coaching, but to prove they are buddies...

as far Gruden to Tennessee goes, I have always believed it was like Elvis old song "It's now or never"

No way Jones would give up full control!!!!!!!!! Has never done so since he acquired the franchise!!!!!

There was an interview yesterday on ESPN where Jerry Jones said he will always be in control of all players and make the call on who plays . That was yesterday. So I'm calling BS on the other claim. Darrin Woodson even said Jerry will never give full control over.

I won't waver until another head coach is named. It's interesting how just over a week ago the media were saying Gruden was a real possibilty, and then after last weekend they all shot it down. I wonder if this is a massive smokescreen.
