Wow. Best of wishes to you and your family. That's a dire situation, and I hope you prevail.
More of a temporary PITA, but thanks. It was triggered by Chevron refinery blowing up and catching on fire a few months ago, right across the road. They're finding that they used bad pipes and bypassed required pollution and safety monitoring. * tries to act surprised *

We'll muddle through, but we'll probably wind up finding somewhere else to retire, like Pacific Grove or Monterey.

Effing oil companies...

Are you in Frisco?

I work in San Francisco, and we live across the Bay. I loved my years in East Tennessee, but I gotta say, this is God's country. Breezes from across the Bay, no mosquitoes (no screens on the windows!!), unbelievable scenery and geography, I drove across the Golden Gate Bridge twice a day, annual lows in the fifties, highs in the eighties, wonderful people, lots of fun and music and crazy stuff in general going on.

(I'm a grown-up Army brat, so I never had a home. I've just been looking for the place that makes me happy all my life.)

But still, VFL.

Mark twain once said. "coldest I have ever been was a summers night in San fransisco".

I hope to take a trip out in 14 with the family. Going to do Yosemite and then San Fran.

It's colder in SF in the summer than in the winter. Fact.

But I * puffy heart * ocean fogs. I drive home with the windows down and it's like being stung by ice particles. It's really different from the ground fog that comes up off the Tennessee River when you're driving Pellissippi in the morning. It's like a living thing.

Anyway, another House episode is starting up, and I haven't watched the last three that were on, so I'm going to go bounce off the walls somewhere.

Later, y'all.

Heart of a poet. You make me really want to get out there now. God I love the west.:hi:

Still haven't made Yosemite (I haven't been out here that long), but absolutely, c'mon out. I don't know if there's a bad time of year to visit.

I-40 is a long-ass drive, tho. Especially Oklahoma. And Arizona. And OK, the desert area in serious southern Cal.

(I wouldn't live in SoCal if you paid me. Apologies to SDVol and others.)

Know you left, but when I think ocean I think of palm trees, a gentle warm wind while sipping a manly drink. I don't think about a cold night drinking a cocktail while looking at a rock laden beach.

I love the drive. We went to Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, S Dakota last year.

lol

I'm not a beach girl. I'm a shore girl. Whole different thing!

--and a cocktail won't get it. Our shores need bourbon, neat. Freeze your patootie off otherwise.
