Count me as one who would gladly go into 2013 with Kirby Smart VS Derek Dooley. Unproven to me is better than knowing someone does nothing but lose to anyone who matters. It does not do much good to recruit players you can not coach up. Would hiring Smart hurt recruiting? I doubt it would. At some point recruits are going to stop choosing to play for a career losing head coach.
Probably not. the guy doesnt really care about athletics, when football is well its huge for the university. Its been this way for awhile. We took a chance of Kiffin (looking more and more like he is not the coach people thought)because most likely a proven coach would not come here, then we settled for Dooley. I hope we keep Dooley and extend him, our recruiting will take off at that point, we're getting killed in recruiting right now. Hart had a lot to do with Sal being here too. Again, sal may end up being a great recruiter. I still dont understand why Bonner hasnt played much, the kid is the only thing we have that resembles a lock down corner.
247 clarified that Dooley stated with everything he has, it's a non-issue. He said if he received more information, then it'll be dealt with.
So they suspended him for a game without making it public. Because he should've played Saturday with what went on. Wonder why he hasn't been working at this complicated nickel position.
SN: how can the "Star" position be so complicated and one of our most undisciplined players in the secondary plays it. As well as a former walk-on Rb. The philosophy behind this defense is a joke point blank period.
The scheme must be some kind of black magic. Bonner should've started 3 games ago. Bonner, Gray, and McNeil all should be on the field at one time. Hell I would play Orta too. Last Saturday the most refreshing thing to me was seeing Dan Gray at least being able to have a chance to make a play on a receiver. He can at least run. Wagg and Gordon are usually trailing 5 yards behind a receiver in coverage.

Possible. But, yea, our CBs are just bad. Randolph and McNeil are solid safeties. Our CBs can know the scheme and assignments all they want, but it doesn't matter if they aren't athletic enough, which they aren't.
Gray and Bonner need to be outside with Coleman at the nickel spot. We need to go young and build for next season. Florida did it and it's paying off huge. They'll be hell next year as a group.
The fans not expecting the young guys to struggle are crazy. Eric Berry struggled his freshman year. His second year he turned into EB14 all the way. We need to play these young guys and roll with it. Orta needs to play over Moore too.
Agree all the way. We should play the young guys in order to get them experience simply because they have the physical tools to compete and perform what is being asked. PWagg, Gordon, Brewer should be the depth guys that come on to give the younger guys a break.
You like Coleman in the nickel? I like him at CB, I just think he needs to be coached the technique. People were pumped to get Ansley, but I haven't seen our guys play aggressive or play good technique. Coleman looks like a chicken with his head cut off at times trying to locate the ball in flight. But, he has the physical tools, and his tackling has gotten a lot better just from a form standpoint since last year.

Hell Bonner or Gray should have been starting after the UF game. To see Burton out-run and stiff arm Teague to the ground was a damn embarrassment. I like #6 at WR but he's dropping some meaningful balls. I would have probably already put him back at DB if I had a say so.
