It's being overblown. The amendment of the UT-UTFI affiliation and services agreement to change the reporting line for athletics departments personnel at UT Knoxville will resolve most of the athletic concerns because it will provide the UTAD the funds/power needed to make its own decisions.
As it stands now, the AD is under the University. What is supposed to happen at the board meeting is taking the AD out from under the University.
As it stands now the SEC money we get goes to Cheek, then he gives Hart what he wants him to have from it. That has to change. It should be the opposite. That is one of the items on the agenda for the meeting that will be addressed.
As for Gurden, I still stand where I have always stood. Money Talks.
Now this is true, but I do not think you need to worry about that. The votes are in place to get this done.
After this week, the meeting, and mizzou, it's highly possible you'll simply have more question marks and no answers. For recruits, fans, coaches, et al.
If Gruden does not work out we could be too far down the river before we start asking for a paddle to really make a good choice. It's possible signing day, and coaching candidates moving elsewhere will be impending like the rapids.
just 2 cents as I really hope Gruden works out but if he were that far in the bag (as was rumored) we wouldn't be holding out hope for a meeting to go just so, etc.
