With the last day or so and the fact that I have to winterize my boat tomorrow I am glad I have xanax on hand. I am not going to say anything negative about anyone who maintains hope or have different people with positive information but I am not one of them unfortunately.

Stay strong Grudies. All of this internal mess will be sorted out after the weekend. The ship will be righted. Gruden will be our coach. Again, I have just one "connection" that I trust on this.

I say fire Cheek! Fix our admittance and grade issues money etc on par with Bama, LsU, USCe, etc. Move Hart to Chancellor, Dooley to AD, hire Gruden money issue solved.

However, my dad worked for UT for several decades, still moves in some of those circles. He recently attended a luncheon with two players from the '51 championship team. These are respectful, older gentlemen not keen on gossiping too much, but one did share that, in his opinion, the AD dept was an utter, chaotic mess, with deeper problems than most of us know about.

Could be idle chitchat, or simply speculation, but it sounded ominous to me.

I really didn't think much about it, until reading this thread today and seeing a lot of similar statements thrown about.

This is something I can say without reservation is the truth.

As for the smokescreen theory, it's only believable if you suspend belief because you want it to be true. That doesn't make it any more plausible.
More likely: There is so much discord right now that it's amounted to paralysis - no one can do anything, not Hart, not Cheek, not Haslam nor BOT. Meanwhile, Dooley keeps losing games.

With all the talk about what a mess the AD and the rest of the administration is in, it sounds like not getting Gruden may be the least of our problems.

I agree 100% with this, and Cheek is obviously a detriment to the AD. I just cannot see a scenario where this week the chancellor is removed to clear the way to hire the coach the boosters want and then remove Hart as some have suggested. That is just too far out there for me to buy into.

Most likely scenario at this point is Dooley either finishes the season and is replaced or if we find a way to make Mizzou and Vandy look like top 10 teams he could be removed beforehand to start the search. Its way too much of a mess there to think "we have our guy" no matter what name people believe it to be.

Why is all this academic trouble erupting now and not in 2008 when the Kiffin hire was made. It didn't seem to cause a problem for Kiffin and his band of thugs to get enrolled. Iirc we were in the line for a few big name coaches that year without much issue.

You dont have to remove Cheek...just remove his office from atop the AD.
