Official Jon Gruden Thread V

I should have made that a little clearer. He is working his butt off to save his butt, he is holding everything up here.

Unless, and I say unless the big boys step in and take control, we will not have a better coach at the University of Tennessee.

That is why me and a lot of folks were never believing the hype about Gruden because of the crap in administration named the AD.

Again, all the AD has to do is look at attendance from Saturday. If they keep Doolander for next season, they just as well burn the mother******* stadium down. Or at least tear off the upper deck, because they won't need it after Orogon hangs 80 on us next season.

I would also add that they would be running away from this thread rather than running to the thread if they were lying.

This deal isn't over by a long shot. It's just getting interesting, imo.

I do not think anyone in here is "lying". I know I am not, I only pass on what I hear from people closer than I.

I am just really deflated today, I think (my personal opinion) based on what is starting to come out that Gruden has given a definitive "no". I think it is due to a mixture of reasons including UTs academic policies, how truly bad it is esp with the defensive personnel, openings in the NFL, and the overall turmoil in all facets of our football program and how it relates to the AD as a whole. Not giving up hope, but cannot say any longer I feel like a Gruden hire is "likely".

And again, it is somewhat understandable to keep Dooley in place through the end of the season, so I am not panicking over the fact he isn't being fired immediately--as long as it leads us to a home run hire.

However, if administrative disfunction screws up such a hire, then we are going to be last in the East for years to come.

Ok folks, I realize this is the Gruden thread and we all want him coaching here but......

Jay, OV, 'Boro IF for whatever reason Gruden is a no go, is Strong a realistic candidate? Has he indicated any interest in leaving Louisville? My impression has been that he wouldn't. Tell me I am wrong please.

Then, you have to clean up the administrative mess pronto and make a financial offer he cannot refuse. Somebody with a voice has to get a burr under his saddle and make it his crusade to get this turned around.

The only person who appears to fit the bill is Haslam. He has the political connections with the governor and the financial wherewithal to make it happen. He is our only hope. He has to win this fight or we are doomed.

Exactly what we all try to do imo. Its a discussion about a situation with a whole bunch of moving parts.

I admit I am deflated. With that said, I do not see another year do Dooley under any circumstance. If that starts to look likely a mobilized fan base needs to make sure the discontent is heard loud and fast.
Why are you deflated? What have I missed this morning? Just got here a few minutes ago. Thanks :)

MedicT, I am staying with Gruden to the end. I'm still firm in what I have been told.

Tony B. is killing it. If the dude was debating for president right now he would get elected. He is killing it.

My info is and always has been that Gruden is the target. I'm riding with that.

Tony B. is deadon. "They need to pop him and they need to do it TODAY"

Only if it helps us to get to where we want to be. Sometimes, you have to forego the emotional response if it serves a better purpose. If keeping him in place serves a purpose (i.e., making a home run hire), then I don't have a problem with it.

I just hope that those in charge have a plan. I am starting to get concerned that they don't.

Why would anyone think that Boro, OV, DTO, Bcarter, SBV, ect would intentionally lie? It seems to me that they would be climbing extremely far out on the limb if they knowingly put out false info. When did Ainge or Basilio become the legitimate sources of information, are they not reporting information from their insiders? If things fall through I would still hope that Boro, OV, DTO, Bcarter, SBV, ect will share whatever information they glean. Until something different is officially reported I will cling to their information. Gruden soon.

All I can say is..THIS!!

SOON!

I still believe and haven't waivered.
