Good Morning Grudenites.....Heard the latest from Hubbs....All this tells me is that the AD wanted the public to know Cheek is on the hotseat and big changes coming.

Academics doesn't get residual $$$$$ when the stadium looks like this.

Wow, just wow. If that doesn't get everybody's attention, then they just don't care about Tennessee football.

Gruden is the only coach who can corrrect the attendance issue immediately.

Boro, it's also not just about the slice of the $$$ pie to academics from the AD. That is the issue though, from what I know. The problem is that there is a huge disagreement over who has what, who does what, who is owed what, etc.

The big line that UT was one of the few self supporting ADs in the country for a long time, from what I have heard, is not totally true. The university supports the AD in many, many ways that hasn't always been financially recorded or made known, basically just so the AD could throw out this great statement of how it was self supporting. That university moves money around like nothing I've ever seen. They waste like nothing I've ever seen, which is saying a lot for me. Sure the AD gives millions to the university for scholarships. However, at the end of the day, it's basically a wash.

The financial issues are the elephant in the room that no one wants to tackle directly or talk about, but are always the hidden reasons for everything. The entire university needs to get their act together or someone (the media) needs to expose them.

Dayum! Where'd you come from??? Out of the blue!

Good stuff again! Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul!

That is such a sad picture, never thought I would see the day when a home game looks like this.. humbling.

So sad....

Need to start at the top and fire everyone! Just in case he is somehow involved in this great tragedy, start with the POTUS and we'll work our way down.

Wow. Thanks to all for taking me to school on the "inside" issues at UT. If all of this is indeed true, I never realized the magnitude of the debacle at hand. I don't like to admit it but I can see why Gruden or any other top tier coach would look at our program and University, shake their head, laugh and walk away. It is sickening to me to say the least.

I have been told what you say is true. I've heard it is a mess over there from top to bottom.

I hear ya, but you've got professors who make chump change while we pay coaches millions of dollars per year.

I don't blame them for being a bit testy about "more focus on football."

Thats why they need to be seperated.

btw...agree with ya.

Society's priorities are messed up.

I'm not patient either. I've known this university was a cluster**** for years. I want to win as much as anyone. The biggest problem is financial like I've said. These issues have been a problem for decades. They don't get fixed in a month because everyone realizes the football coach and program is terrible.

UT needs a total overhaul. Dozens of people need to be shown the door - folks that have been long time employees but don't really know what they are doing anymore. The BOT needs to grow a pair. The Governor needs to deal with it. The boosters need to have their say but not be allowed to run the show. The problem is the place is run like a dang political patronage system instead of a professional organization.

Same old crap. Some academic guys are jealous because a football coach can demand a lot more money than they can.

Thanks for this B.

I agree with you. It seems there is a large push to "shift" this thing to the way it should be. Like having a vertebrae out of alignment, you have to pop it back in before the rest of the body can adjust.

The meeting Friday about shifting the AD

The talk about Cheek, being on the academic side of things with no clue about how to maintain a healthy balance for the AD

The talk about Hart, with his Alabama ties, and possibly bringing in Sal, "maybe" well intentioned but not a smart move, or maybe intentioned to hold down what could have been a great year...dunno...

There seems to be a good push to get all this run by the "homegrown" so to speak...and dare I say it???...maybe an AD run by Fulmer?? or some other TN faithful...

Could be wrong...just musing...but thanks anyway Boro, keep it coming...Im not done yet...wont be till we see him him at the podium or see the official decline.

Does anyone think that a professional would take a high paying job at a university for the express purpose of killing the program? i.e. the program that is supporting him and his family...

Or, do these people believe that he is actually, secretly, on the Bama payroll to kill UT?

Further, do they believe that he wants an abject failure on his resume, being considered for the future positions he will be seeking after leaving the program he killed?

Well not the only one, but he would do it to a greater degree.

I took that pic from S row 43 but sat in other sections too. It looked just as bad. It was noticed, by a lot of people. Fan apathy was the worst. Troy was 3rd and 11 at one point and I could hear the cheerleaders chanting defense from row 43. Student section was very barren.

Ah, what the hell maybe Cheek is onto something...I for one would just as soon show up to watch an Asian kid take a math test as watch this football program right now.

These threads are an evolving beast. It transcends Gruden. It transcends UT. It reaches right down to the core of human functionality on a St. Augustine-like level.

Wow.

We have discussed so much stuff here...
