Most basketball schools like Kansas and KY have bad coaches as well, but thats intentional because they don't want to spend the money.

Kansas's head coach has taken a team he has coached to a BCS bowl game....something Dooley will never do at the rate he is going.

Those that defend Dooley are so stupid that they can't take a step back and realize that this is even an argument..

we went into their house and almost beat them.if our def. is playing better,we win those games.now, tell me i'm wrong.

You're making assumptions. No proof that Bray wouldn't choke or someone fumble.

We are living in reality.

UT did lose those games.
Dooley can't beat a ranked opponent.
Dooley has a poor record as a head coach.
0-5 in the SEC for three straight years.

Those are facts. Not what ifs.

Tell me I'm wrong.

Was this supposed to make CDD look bad? If so, not helpful. As Haslam reportedly said, "the season is not over." Put away the torches and pitch forks...for now.

if we had the same talent and depth and our def staff is in their 2nd or 3rd year.out of the 5 losses who are we beating?this is the question i'm asking, because right now we're not on the same level as our biggest rivals.just a fact.we got close with the talent we do have.

before,(you're saying we don't have enough talent to win).yes,we have enough talent to win but we're not on the same level as ga,al,sc or fl.saying we don't have the same talent,is not a bad thing.it just means we're still rebuilding.

i'm saying richt and spurrier because neither stopped our offense.

so, when exactly is tennessee going to have the same level of talent as florida, georgia, alabama, south carolina?

this is a tired argument, because dooley has done nothing to make this go away any time soon.

All are facts, except you technically need to change the statement from "Dooley can't" to "Dooley hasn't".

Well maybe one other statement. I don't think all of us are living in reality.:)

I would take any coach over Dooley! I lost all respect for Dooley when I found out he ran a former player off for not calling . Just think we have the only fans in the SEC that fight to keep a coach that has never won. Even Manning is trying like hell to get us a coach!

Of all those teams you mentioned in the SEC that have better talent than Tennessee which team had a situation similar to what Dooley faced when taking the UT job? Believe it or not Dooley has improved the talent here. Not saying that I'm a Doolaid drinker or anything, but you guys act like the talent we have here is on par with Vanderbilt or Kentucky. We have the hardest schedule in the East just because we play Bama every year. Like one of the posters said this kind of thing goes in cycles and UT will be back again just have to be patient.

Doen't the fact that we are even having debates about this scream volumes about the true need to move on from Dooley?

this is another argument that is flawed, imo

the "it goes in cycles" argument. typically, do you know what those cycles are......a good head coach.

bama has a bear bryant, gene stallings, nick saban cycle. they also have a ray perkins, bill curry, mike shula, dennis franchione, mike debose, mike price cycle.

oklahoma has a bud wilkinson, barry switzer, bob stoops cycle. they also have a garry gibbs, howard schnellenberger, john blake cycle.

southern cal has a john mckay, john robinson (part 1), pete carroll cycle. they also have a ted tollner, larry smith, john robinson (part 2), paul hackett cycle.

the best way to end this cycle at tennessee is to find someone who doesn't put up a vanderbilt or kentucky like 4-17 conference record

actually I think it did. None of the coaches mentioned are thought to be good coaches. And none of the schools are really that good football schools (some slight exceptions).

You (and those that agree with you) are saying Dooley is good because he is (in your opinion) better than Franklin, Joker Phillips, and John L. Smith?

Wow, some good competition there

Why are you projecting that everyone here thinks Dooley is good? They're just answering the question and pointing out that he isn't the worst (like some of the haters like to say).
