He!!, by your recruiting logic, we should strive to be Texas, they signed 28 kids last year and were #2 in recruiting! lol!

If the rock scares away more recruits than Dooley's lack of meaningful victories, then individuals need to stop painting this "crap" on the rock.

That is a huge "if", though.

Getting embarrassed game in and game out ought to scare away any recruits that have offers from, and legitimate chances of playing time at, Florida, Georgia, SC, Bama, and LSU. Certainly, though, the rock could be scaring away kids that would otherwise end up at Kentucky or Vandy.

On the 3rd and 26 (goal) in the SC game, the defense called a play that they have ran less than 5 times all season (per Hubbs). To me that's a problem in coaching and putting the players in a position to be successful. The rock is funny but it's true. Lex is right it's just a reflection of the state of the program and it's going to continue until the results improve.

We have been behind Vandy since the beginning on this recruiting class. I remember when everyone said they just got a couple quick commits, and it would just be a month or two until they were back well below us where they belonged.

Then all this happened...

According to Rivals:

Vandy has three 4* recruits, seventeen 3* recruits and a total of 21 recruits. Their average player ranking is 3.1.

UT has six 4* recruits, eleven 3* recruits and a total of 18 recruits. The average player ranking is 3.28.

When ranked by average stars, UT is 22nd and Vandy is 28th in the nation. If both teams continue to recruit at approximately the same level as they have and sign around the same number of prospects, UT will finish slightly higher than Vandy on NSD in February (2/6/13).

However, it will be Dooley's lowest ranked recruiting class at UT, and it will continue a visible downward trend in his recruiting.

is something you try all the time. Putting lipstick on Dooley and his recruiting doesn't make them attractive.

If you're referring to Rivals ranking it is weighted to only count the best 20 players in a signing class. That puts most teams regardless of the size of their class on as equal footing as possible, IMO.

I'm surprised the rock hasn't been painted for Sunseri. With a half way decent defense this year we could be 7-1, probably no worse than 6-2.

If only we had a better place for them to sleep. Our record would be better and we would be in the top 5 of any respectable recruiting service....

Help me out please. Can we sign 28 this year? Don't we have a few spots we can back count? I don't really understand how many we can sign this season so any help would be great.

Even as a sunshine pumper, I must say I found it hilarious. I might not agree with it, but it was brilliant humor-wise and well done. :)

Of course the "joke" was probably lost on Dooley if he even saw it. Heck, the man doesn't know what a Hoveround is...

According the the recruiting forum, UT has 13 seniors and 83 scholarship players. The Vols can bring in between 15 and 29 players depending on turnover, early draft declarations, etc.

In theory we could sign a total of 28 due to the ability to back count. However, we will be bumping up against the 85 scholarship limit. We can only offer as many spots as we have available. There will certainly be attrition on the roster for graduating early and people leaving the program. It's hard to give an exact number b/c we don't know who's leaving. I know we'll take more than 20 but I couldn't give you an exact number.

Wait until signing day to see where the class ranks. A lot can happen between now and Feb. Whether Dooley is or isn't the coach.

Thanks.. if we have say 6 juniors leave .13 seniors and say 3 random players just leave we could bring in 22+? I'm sorry With the new limit on scholly's I was just confused. Once again thanks.

It doesn't matter. We already know CDD can't count to 11, so beyond that is hopeless.
