Practice is different.. U need to listen to, and absorb everything the coaches are trying to relay to u.. There r times to prepare for game distractions, but it's not throughout all practice.

Im sorry but im sure they pipe in loud noises and other distractions to make it as very much a gameday experience as possible. It would be different if the former players were involved or communicating with the players but they are just there to watch.

First off, you're not breaking anything to me.. I know plenty about the way recruiting is.. It's kinda related to my job.. Second, we better hope CDD really did recruit the right type of kids, because losing a big chunk of the roster again from another coaching change could kill the next few seasons..

What good player would leave if we hire a big time coach like Gruden?

Talk about empty seats, I got 6 together upper deck free about a month ago for Troy. Since then I have been given 9 tickets in section S and two parking passes, one in 9 and one at 11th street lol. Out of 42 total season tickets my company has there are none being used except for me to take my son to his first game.

So yes, there will be a lot of empty seats. I might try to sell extras for $10 or so at the game, but may just use them for smoking passes to be honest. I do not feel the prospects are good for selling them lol.

I'd bet there r some around here that would absolutely love to have a ticket or two and can't afford em.. Good opportunity for u..

Time for Fun With Math:

7 home games next year.

Let's estimate at least 20,000 empty, unsold seats. I think that's conservative, but let's roll with it.

$45 minimum ticket cost. Let's just go with $50 as the average price for those 7 games.

$50 x 20,000 tickets unsold = $1,000,000 per game x 7 games = $7,000,000

You're telling me we can't afford a buyout? Are you serious? And that is on the conservative side of things. If it were 25,000 tickets = $8.75 mil... 30,000 tickets = $10.5 mil...

And that's not even counting donations coming into play.

This alone, not even counting all the great info from DTO, Boro, Jay, etc., makes me believe there will be a change. We can't afford to not have a change.

I remember reading in On Rocky Top (Clay Travis' book where he followed the team for the disastrous 2008 season) and how the coaching search for Kiffin went down. Very secretive, lots of smoke screens about going after different coaches, tracking the plane, they drove to Atlanta in a different vehicle instead of flying to keep it off the radar... etc.

Although that hire didn't end up being the right one, I feel like in this situation we're going to hear lots of different things, rumors intentionally leaked out of AD, rumors leaked by agents, lots of smoke to distract media and fans from what is really happening.

Whether or not Cheek, Hart, anyone in the AD is slowing up the process or not (or if this is an intentional rumor), the big money guys will win out. That's how it works in our particular situation.

We've realized we did what Alabama did in the early 2000s with Franchione, Price, and Shula from 2001-2006. Blew up in their face, went with the safe hire, and proceeded to be mediocre for 4 seasons (26-23, 13-19 in conference). Then roll out the big dollars for the big coach.

The same thing must happen at Tennessee. Fire a legend, hire a flash in the pan, panic safe hire, rebuild the roster from a pure # of players on scholarship perspective, now it is time for the grand slam hire.

SOON.

Fulmer started this dumpster fire...so he gets some of the blame

great post, ticket prices are the tip of the iceberg for revenue. You have concession sells, branding of the university product, apparel sells. by the time it is all said in done for 20,000 empty seats we may be in the red somewhere near 1.75+ million dollars and 12.25+ for the year. Not to mention if we have other donations lost and more empty seats....

None of us know that.. I guess we will see.. But I do know there r some players that respect CDD and love to play for him.

I can tell u this- not everyone worships Gruden like some of u do. U all r just feeding on this hype machine here and getting a little ridiculous with this whole Gruden is God thing..

If a Dooley player would leave after we hire a big named coach, even if its not Gruden, then good riddance.

If anyone wants to speak up then do so lol, will be in Lot 9 by 830 or 9 with a Shiner Bock in one hand and a mason jar in the other. Usually tailgate in the back corner of the fenced in lot just above 9 with friends but parking in 9.

bcartervol98@gmail.com if anyone wants a cheap ticket to the game. Will do $10 each in section HH and have 6 total but wouldn't mind having two left to smoke at halftime and still get back in lol

Hart wouldn't do it til after the season is over...If Dooley lost one or more of these games he couldn't support him at all...hell...he shouldn't now.

Being 0-12 against your 4 biggest rivals, 0-forever against ranked opps, 2 straight 0-5 starts to the SEC schedule, since the beginning of last season we have the worst SEC record of ANY opponent, including the 2good new teams that have won the same amount or more in a little more than half a season and lastly ending our winning streak against a UK team with a WR filling in as QB.That should be enough for Hart not to back him.

agreed, but we have to remember that a lot of our roster consists of juniors and sophomores. The juniors may leave to enter the draft the sophomores might as well stay at least one more year.

Winning is contagious and if the make a grand slam hire, many of these kids will stay to win, and 75% of these kids come here with everyintention of going to the NFL someday and to have a coach that provides just that it would be hard to resist for a player...

A Gruden hire wouldnt cost us many players if any. Bray, Hunter and CP are not close to being NFL ready. Not saying some JR's wont leave but you bring in a guy like Gruden plus how many of our JR's are actually NFL ready? We will be fine.

Some players don't care about how many times a guy has been on Espn, they care about relationships.. It's the fans like u who r all googly eyed over Gruden, not every player/recruit in the nation.

Personally, I have about had it with the whole "savior" mentality. Corporations do it, nfl teams do it, and the truth is, it does not work. There is no one person who brings us back, it is recognizing that EVERY hire around this football program be the BEST. I don't care if it's the dude running the video taping the game film. If you don't EXPECT PERFECTION, you dang sure won't get it.

Absolutely. I'm going off of hard numbers since I don't have access to UT's books of "X butts in seats = Y revenue in concessions, donations, apparel."

I'd agree, but I think the real person to blame is unfortunately Hamilton. Your ENTIRE JOB can be boiled down to drive donations and negotiate contracts.

I'm okay with the flash in the pan hire, but what was Kiffin's buyout? $800,000? Are you serious? You take an unemployed coach and pay him big money with virtually no buyout to where he can take a $3-4 mil/year job from USC and literally not feel a difference in pay. Brilliant.

Edit: Then you have a mostly public search, lots of people turning us down, 2-3 weeks before NSD. Should have left Kippy in as interim and gotten a real coach the next year. Two huge mistakes for us.

How could you kill the next few seasons more than starting the last three 0-5 in the conference?

I don't think it would be crazy attrition, but nobody knows for sure who we would lose.. It's just a risk we would have to take..
