even if they cause a distraction to the team during their limited practice time?

sorry but I have to agree with Dooley on his call ahead procedure

How would standing on the side interfere with practice?

Btw, the story is true,

So the players would show up and interrupt practice? Sorry I don't buy that.

Distraction? For real?
Because, you know, they're obviously doing such a great job now of retaining information with the rules in place.
:ermm:

Looking into my crystal ball one year in the future:

-coach Grudes coming off a win against south Carolina
-season ticket sales are way up, Knoxville is thriving
-doolz and Rucker co-host the lowest rated Internet radio show in history, Babs is a frequent guest.
-it is once again great to be a tennessee vol

Underrated post..IMO

Standards r already too high.. Like Matthews said, if they want UT to compete with ua, uf, uga on the field, they should put UT on the same admission standards.. It's just not fair right now.. Hasn't been.. Seems like we r really missing Dickey and Johnson..

I've been under the impression that all 3 have higher admissions standards than we have. I know we were about 8th in the conference in the US News rankings

What distractions have former players at UT caused at practice for Dooley?

it was more of a hypothetical but I believe there were stories of former players trying to act as coaches. There are also quite a few former players that are now media members

Like TB said those players are the one who built this brand and bleed on the field. Not Dooley. They want to show up for practice and watch. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Ok...I guess I could see that...Doesn't change the fact that Dooley is a PR liability..

I hate living in Georgia, have to listen to them talking about Georgia beating Florida two years in a row now. I have nothing to brag about down here. The winning streak we had against them is long gone now. I can't do another year of Dooley, I really can't. Please everyone with any pull do what you can to get him an Cheek out of there. Do it for my health.

if Peyton Manning, Eric Berry, Al Wilson, etc show up they could be a distraction without saying a word. I'm not saying it has anything to do with their actions. At that point the coach has to stop and address or simply hope it goes away

for example, in HS Allan Houston showed up at one of our bball practices. He never said anything but I can assure you he was a distraction

Those former players would probably do a much better job than Dooely

They probably realized Dooley had no clue what he was doing.

Obvious Dools doesn't want former players watching practice. Reasoning is two things imo. 1.Dooley still thinks he can coach like Saban even though results are opposite. 2.Dooley doesn't want former players speaking about the difference of coaching from the 90s to now. We all know what that would come across like. I am over Dooley and he needs to do something else, not so much for a living since his buyout should allow him to retire.
